WHAT DO U THINK OF GETTING COLOUR I, CLARITY IF, IDEAL CUT? IS THAT BETTER THAN G, VS2?
FROM WHAT I KNOW IF ITS BIGGER CLARITY AND IDEAL CUT, THE BIGGER SHINE!

Hi zel30,
To start with: There's no such thing as an "Ideal" princess cut.
That calls a lot of what you've been told into question.....do you know who issued the grade on these diamonds?

SOMEONE SAYS NO TO SI1 AND SOMEONE SAYS YES!

Hi Zel - excuse me, but you did not read this here, right?

Then the next question- Zel, whoever is telling you this stuff is misleading you.Who graded the diamonds you are asking about?
Is there a gemological report on them?

Hi again Zel,
I wanted to stress that part of what you heard- cut is important- that part is true.
It's just that when many sellers call their diamonds "Ideal"- it's not an accepted fact.

GIA has a "Cut Grade" on their reports for Round Brilliant- but only round, not princess cut.
The best grade for a GIA cut grade is "Excellent"

TAHNK U DAVID

NOW I UNDERSTAND,....
WHAT DO U THINK,..... SHOULD I PAY MORE ATTENTION ON THE COLOUR (FOR EXAMPLE I LIKE COLOUR G AND F) THAN ON CLARITY? BECAUSE WHEN U HAVE LIMITED BUDGET AND IF U WANT BIGGER DIAMOND U HAVE TO DECIDE, F COLOUR OR I COLOUR WHICH IS CHEAPER, OR VVS2 CLARITY OR CHEAPER SI1.U SEE DIAMONDS IN PERSON EVERY DAY, SO THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING.

I think that with any stone what matters most is your opinion. Do you like the stone? Do you see any imperfections? or Is it eye clean? I think people get to wrapped up in this grading game. I have seen some stones from David that defy this grading concept but he really knows how to pick them. He always chooses stones that look good to his eye, if that makes sense. Are you able to see the stone you are considering in person? If so then base your decision on that. Look at the stone with your naked eye first. See if you can spot any imperfections. Then look at it through a loupe, what do you see? If you really like the way the stone looks then I say base your decision on that. I know David will probably kill me for saying that but I really feel like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'd say that color and clarity should play a role in a big purchase. But with a big purchase most reputable jewellers will have a GIA report. Just my  My2cents

as far as what the paper says and what it looks like in person, you never can really tell.  i wouldnt consider my asscher quiet so much like an asscher.   it has good clarity, a vs1, decent size for its carat weight, but then it's an L color, doesnt have the typical "windmill" looks, and it has a huge table.  even though my asscher isnt the perfect asscher, i still love it in person.  i would have never guessed it was an L because to me it faces up white.  i am much more sensitive to imperfection than color.  my previous engagement ring was a G color but I1 clarity princess.  i have extremely good vision and i could spot the flaws.  it drove me crazy.  my new diamond is vs1 in clarity and i cant spot the flaws, plus, the minute tint really doesnt bother me.  its up to you which you prefer more, but i prefer a cleaner stone over a super white one.

AS you can see, people have differing ideas as to color and clarity- and which one is more important.
It's really up to the seller to help guide you - as it seems you are not decided.

Zel, the really important questions are more basic than color and clarity.
Who's grading these diamonds, and where are they being offered? Are they in a store, or online?
If you are considering spending your money, we'd like to make sure you're going in "eyes open"

Zel, first and foremost, you need to pay attention to how the seller is representing the diamond.

I second that!
It's really informative to look at what sellers are telling people.
THere needs to be a balance between color, clarity and size.
Since diamonds are natural we can't neccesarily get the exact combination we seek.
For example- many people ask about buying a nice 1.90carat- thinking that they will save alot over a 2.00 with little or no visual difference.
Wait for that 1.90 and you might never find your diamond.

In the case of clarity and color there's a lot of strange stories we hear.

Just HAVE to show off my GIA K color 2.18 princess diamond from DBL...it fit so perfectly with this thread...Zel, go for what is beautiful to your eye...you look at the diamond every day, but you only look at the papers once...before you send them to your insurance man!
