Were putting something original, together for a client.  Here's the center diamond

Here's what we found that really seemed to go well.....

Well, this one isn't going to fly, we are going to keep looking... not to say that it isn't beautiful.  It's a 1.13ct E/Vs2 with .53ct tw shield side stones

Speaking of experimental side stones, what do you guys think of this one?

Ooo I love both of those!!!

Can I ask what kind of look your client is going for with the design of their Asscher ring?

It's a very nice asscher! If it was mine, I'd go for a baguette halo.

If I was forced to pick sidestones, I'd go for more asschers, I think. It's such a unique cut, and it already has plenty going on, with these steps and windmills, so I probably wouldn't want anything to compete with it.

If I was forced to pick different sidestones, I'd go for step cut trills. Or even yellow step cut trills, if they really want unusual. I'd also like double claws on the asscher.

All just personal preference - whatever you do with a stone that lovely is going to look just yummy! (with the possible exception of the horsehead pair. I fear that wouldn't work...) Grin

I like the idea of an all asscher 3 stone with the sides turned 90 degrees Smiley

All  three asschers in a bezel, perhaps with milgrain would be very art deco. Nice, really nice!

The only thing that concerns me about this, is whether you could get the side hearts close enough to the center to make it look right, given that the sides of the center heart taper in so much toward the point.  Did that make any sense?

David
The heart with the yellow sidestones would be my DREAM ring.
I once found a pic of one almost identical and posted it on here somewhere.
Oh I wish , I wish , I wish ...
IF you make it for anybody then please ask them can we see it on here ?
Lynne

( PS whisper in my ear, how much would that beauty be ? )

I love both of these!!!  I think the side stones on the heart will be close enough...they sort of act like fat pears on the sides.

Oh, I got here too late!  I love the look with the shields on the sides.  Ah well.

What about maybe facing the yellow hearts in the opposite direction so their points face in to the center heart?  Is that possible?

Yes CH, that makes perfect sense!

Remember though, that the three diamonds will be on different height levels.  The two side diamonds will be slightly lower than the center diamond.  This will allow the three stones to be fairly close together

An interesting concept, but I'm kind of liking them better the other way.  What does everyone else think?

Well, when the points face into the centre stone, the heart shapes are more apparent. When I first saw them laid out, I thought it was a heart with round yellow sidestones for a moment.

The little yellow hearts are really pretty.

Interesting turning the points in, I do like that you can see that they are truely heart shapes-but not sure how they would look once set!  Have you ever done any 3 stone heart rings with the hearts all facing the same direction!?!?!
