Ok, I had just had a conversation with a member about if a platinum (or WG) bezel around a warmer stone (J-K-L-M) would look whiter or if a prong stetting would make the center more white with a pink halo...

David? What'cha think?

Well, we will have a good test case...Robin and I just bought L color diamonds with no fluorescence.  Hers is bezel set, mine will be prong set.

I hope mine looks half as beautiful as hers!!

And I think Carole told me that hers will be set exactly the same way, although hers is a cushion.

I'm sure it will be gorgeous... I LOVE the shape of that cushion!

Wait! I am  1087 as I read the rose gold thread about this.. HOWEVER... It'd be interesting to see two diamonds (same shape, same color) with one in a prong and the other bezel for our eyes to view... Sorta like how David had that poll about the pink pendants in white vs. rose gold...

Just a wild guess, but I'm thinking the bezel would make the stone appear whiter.....more white metal in a bezel than in prongs to help it.?.

We like white metal for our near colorless diamonds.
The strange thing is that some J-K-L diamonds look tinted no matter what you do, while others seem to look amazing in platinum or white gold......

It is an interesting question.  I would think with a prong setting, you would get more light through the diamond...now would that show more of the tint or not?  I will let you know!!

No, Snooper, I think she's getting prongs.  I got a bezel.  So we'll have a nice little test case, although of course the stones are different shapes.  But they're both Ls with no fluorescence.

This will be interesting to find out. But, would Asscher and Cushion cuts reflect the light (or tint) differently?

We're gonna compare Robin's Asscher to CH's Cushion, correct???
