What do you think about pairing warmer colors with gemstones, especially sapphires?

Something like this would be a long-term project for me, more than likely (I'm still thinking of an Asscher with a pink halo for now), but what about a stone such as this one:

set with cushion sapphires on each side (I saw a pair on DT that are just over 1ct each, for example, so all the stones would be MOL the same size), perhaps in a bezel setting like this, but 1 diamond and 2 sapphires, rather than the opposite (and please forgive me if we aren't allowed to post links to other commercial websites!):

I think the setting would be awesome-- but what do you think about a J-K-L diamond paired with sapphires, set in WG or platinum?  What would the sapphires do for the tint?

Not sure how the sapphires would react w/ the "tint" of the cushion, but I quite like the idea of pairing the two together!

I vote white metal for the sapphires... Even w/ Rubies I don't care for the look of YG that much....

I am starting to love bezels though!!

Well, I'm no an expert or professional, but I do know that I see true vintage jewelry using warmer color diamonds set with sapphires and rubies ALL the time! I think they look wonderful together!

They ring style you posted is very pretty too!

I agree with DL!  I think that warmer colored diamonds and sapphires look lovely in older settings.

I am a huge fan of sapphires and diamonds together.  I see many old diamonds set with sapphires and the older diamonds tend to have a tint to them.  They are quite beautiful.  I don't think you could go wrong one bit!  I love that vintage bezel setting with the milligrain!    Gorgeous!~Ronda

I agree - I bet it would look gorgeous!  But, if in doubt, ask David!

I bet the blue of a sapphire could make the diamond appear a bit whiter...

I agree EMJ!

I think warmer diamonds & sapphires would look lovely together.......I agree with Snooper. They'd look better in a white (platinum, white gold) metal.

I have an N color heart diamond with ruby baguettes on the sides, set in platinum (pictured below). I love it. It does have some yellow tint, but usuallly appears more white than yellow.
