Sorry to keep you waiting...I had a 14 hour day at work....

But, in the middle of my day, a very special package came!!

The ring is SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL, I am floored at its brilliance.  There is not even a hint of color to it...I would guess it was a G.

I promise pictures tomorrow.  It will be below zero degrees here, so there won't be anything else to do!

Can't wait to show you all!

CH, I'm so excited you bought that ring!!! I just found out today! I've been drooling over it for months! I love the princess/trilliant combo. It's one of my most favorite rings, EVER! I would never fork out big dollars for the D-E-F colors..........that K is a TRAFFIC STOPPER!

Ugh...I am such a bad photographer...my photo doesn't do this baby justice.  Not even going to try to compete with the photographic skills of Snooper, DiamLady and Ronda...  No candies, flowers...just the rock...

Snooper...that was in the late afternoon sun!  It has been pretty dismal and cold.  Maybe tomorrow!!

I am still blown away at how white/colorless this ring looks.  I haven't looked at it once and thought it looked even "warm".  It just looks icy white to me.   I guess it is good I can't distinguish it from a D color...saves my pocketbook!

David, I am assuming this diamond looks so white because a) medium blue fluorescence, and 2) incredibly well cut?

How can this be a "K"...I think the GIA mixed up their results...!

I agree with you.

David kind find a K that looks like a much higher color. And that is one fabulous hand that ring is sitting on. My fingers....so young and smooth. You guys have great hands. Puts mine to shame. If I cared enough about that I could actually do a little something about that, couldn't I?

I've seen this treasure and it is a knockout.

In the famous words of Annie... "Can we see a shot of the ring's profile, down the finger view?"

Anne, look again...you and I have the same hands...

Unfortunately, mine are always so dry...the constant heat on here, in conjunction with the cold, and my job handling a lot of paper, pretty much dooms me in that area.  I use a lot of hand cream, but it doesn't do much...

I think close up of the skin really does look about the same on so many. You're right. That's a great shot Carol. You had me fooled.

Hey mskerryk - Here's a link to the white diamond grading thread:

http://coloreddiamon...-graded-for-color/0/

David just made a post that talks a little bit more about it.  It seems that as you get further away from D color, the range for what is considered a specific color widens.  He has a little chart in there.

So it seems theoretically that two different K's could be more different in color than two E's.  I'm sure David will correct me if I'm wrong on this one!

Thank you Annie1 and David,

Another Q: Since there are variations along these color grades, how is a consumer to know if they are getting a "whiter J" or a "more tinted J" within the J color grade? Especially since GIA Reports just say "J". I suppose this only matters if one is looking for the whitest diamond possible within a grade. Seems to me there could be sub-categories within a color grade.    Roll Eyes

mskerryk

I'll have to agree with Ruby - Finding the best looking I/J/K/L/M (any diamond really) is where having a trusted jeweler comes into play.  If someone has seen tons of a given color, they're better suited to pick the duds. Smiley

CH that diamond is stunning!!!  I know that you have had your eye on that cutie for a long time now!

And, as a proud owner of one of Daivd's Ks I can say that I LOVE the warmer stones Smiley  David's eye is amazing!

You know, I find it so amazing that a lot of us changed our minds about the warmer colors.  Had I not seen David's warmer colors and how beautiful and understated they really are? I would have been in the "I want colorless diamonds ONLY" mode you know??

Sure I'd love a D.  But I'm happy with G-J, and having seen David's KLMN, etc., I'd now without hesitation, buy one.  And it saves me a lot of money!

David is like the Geiko commercials.  Saved me a lot of money! LOL
