That is lovely David!  One day I am going to have to have one of those.  I am thinking my EC would be lovely like that.  So many projects and so little time...

Hi David,
The split shank halo is gorgeous.

It's been really good fun sharing ideas here and I think I know what I'd like: one of everything please!!

Back on planet earth, I'll give you a call tomorrow about this project, if that's ok.

A big thanks to everyone for sharing their ideas and pics.

Yeah...I am not sure what it would look like with those cuts.  I am not sure that it would work well with a marquise  Huh?

It would look similar to CH's new E/W marquise wouldn't it? That ring is stunning!!

Here's a "mock up" of a pink marquise in a legacy setting.  I have no idea if the size proportions are right though.

And then one made a smidge smaller and put E/W.  Hmm.. interesting.
I dunno - it still seems to look like an "eye" is looking at me.  Roll Eyes

Now that is lovely! Really nice. Now imagine it N/S with a split shank.

This is addictive!

Edited:
DL - I just read the bit in your post about the eye. Yup, now that's all I see too. I'd avoid pink melee, it may look like a bloodshot, hungover little eye! laugh

That looks good enough to eat! My fingers are short, so I wouldn't be able to bend my knuckle if I wore this.  laugh

I would really love to see it on someone's longer, more elegant hand though!  It is a work of art!

I think it's so funny how the marquise has been my least favorite diamond shape... like forever! And now??  NOW I think they are very pretty and unique! OMG.. what am I going to do with out a least favorite shape? I guess I have to pick one, and ya know... it might be round! LOL

I am right there with you Rhonda!  I seem to have become a "shape girl".  I think the only standard shape I am missing is a heart.  Hmm...will have to think that one over.

I never liked princess cuts...now I am loving my princess cut ring.  Just goes to show you...with diamonds, anything is possible.

Sorry, I'm really late to this thread, but I love ovals set E-W. Have you seen this ring yet? If I had an oval, I'd definitely set it E-W. I'm not sure how that would affect your fingers though---if you're concerned about the ring elongating your fingers N-S.

Hi Foxyandsexy, thanks for the picture. I love that look. Everytime I think I know just exactly what I want, someone comes up with something else I like.  laugh  I'm going to ship the stone to David this week and see what he thinks can be done with it. We spoke on the phone and he said he'd need to see it before making setting decisions.

I'm confident it will be something really special and I'll keep you all posted!

Ok, now I have a decision to make, need your input!

My pear pendant arrived today and it is just the more beautiful thing I ever saw. Unless I put it on a 4 ft chain though, I cant stare at it while I'm wearing it! So, do I have the oval reset as a rhr and wear the pear as a pendant forever, or wait awhile and have the pear set in a halo ring and leave the oval alone as a pendant??

When I saw the pear next to the oval, the oval suddenly didn't look so hot - might be a waste of a DBL halo! The pear is I think, a very special stone. My oval isn't nearly so good and might be better leaving it as a pendant.

Oh, what d'yall think?

If the oval doesn't look so good anymore, do you really want to stare at it on your finger?  Hope that doesn't sound too blunt!  If you are going to spend the money, it should be fantastic.  You know, I'm sure there's an oval or two in that huge batch David just got....... Grin

DJ - you are so right, do I want to look at a stone that will annoy me, all day and on my hand? It didnt annoy me before I saw this pear!  It has so much more sparkle and personality that the oval looks a little sad when it's around!

As for that parcel of new sparklies, I swore I wouldn't buy another diamond until we are fininshed re-building our house (but obviously a re-setting of an existing diamond doesn't count...)

Hm.

Yes, Ace, an avatar and a term on "THE LIST". You're also a Jr. Member now. We'll be adding you to the caratage list I'll bet.

Anyway, a necklace is under less scrutiny. I'd think about doing the pear as a halo in the future and putting the oval in a necklace.

Hm.

That's when you sell a few things so you can say that you 'traded' for another diamond.  "Traded" does not equal "Bought"........hehehe evil4

Sell. Hm. I could, couldn't I? The buyer would have to prise it out of my cold, dead hand though!
Seriously, that is not a bad idea at all. Must go and look for potential sacrifices.

Why yes it is ace!  Who's feeling sorry for my DH?!

Jen, look at it this way: you now know what a well cut diamond looks like - there is no going back.  You can't step back behind the line of mediocrity......gotta keep moving forwards....... Grin Grin Grin

DJ, you are completely right! I will work on my DSA strategy and put mediocrity behind me. Looking at it again this morning, it's a pretty enough little oval, if you don't put it too close to a DBL masterpiece! I might even be able to sell it.  Only thing is, I bond immediately with diamonds and I have an emotional attachment to each and every one of them. Uh, is that normal??

Ace - pending owner! What are you getting? Apologies if I've missed this in another thread, haven't been around much this week. Whatever it is, it will be sparkly and fabulous and I can't wait to see pics!
