:radiant:Are shield side stones hard to come by?  You said they were softer looking than trills.  What do you think?  Are they set differently than trills?
I'm also falling in love with traps on the sides of a radiant center.
What do you guys think?  Shields, trills or traps on the side of a radiant center...
I'm leaning towards traps, but always loved trills but when I see them I think they are a little severe looking.  Thats when I saw shield sides and thought they were softer looking.  Never heard of them before...

I'm sure DJ and David will be able to help but my vote is Traps.  Here's a pic of traps with a radiant (not dbl piece)

HI Shelley,
We generally have access to quite a few pairs of different variations.
We use the center diamond to see what looks best- then pick.

In terms of setting details- it again is dictated by the choice of stones.
For example, a trapezoid generally looks nice with a wider shank- where a trilliant looks very nice with a shank that pinches in to meet the center.

Thanks Snopper ALL your rings look awesome to me!

David is a master of matching proportion.

But here is a gallery of side stones. We get many others not on this list--things David has resources for that I don't ordinarily see other places.

And another ring gallery of radiant cut diamond rings.

Here's one that just gets my jaw dropping every time.  This one has 'home plate' sides which I think are a nice mix if you like both a trilliant and a trapezoid.  STUNNING!

I am just curious about what type of mounting would the KITE shape side stones be used on?

Would it require custom work? I can't recall seeing a mounting anywhere that called for them as they have points at each end.

I think GL has a custom ring with the kites. It's to die for. I'm so tired I can't find it.

I found it.

Later: edit
(It's actually diamondluver's ring)

Basically any ring with half moons, trapezoids, trillinats, sheilds- any of these shapes require custom work, or fabrication of parts- IF you want the ring to look like an integrated ring.

The alternative, a "plug in" semi mount ring looks just like that.
With these type of pre made semi mount, you take a shank with the trills in it, and simply solder on a peg hed with the center diamond. Quick, and cheap, but the ring would look different. The stones would be on vastly different levels of height. Non of the prongs would match, or co-ordinate with the others....

Diamondluvr, Diamondluvr, Diamondluvr owns the pink pear.

Someone snuck into my home Sunday night and gave me a clandestine frontal lobotomy. Otherwise, I wouldn't have made that egregious error.
