Have fallen in love with a diamond to join my new watch, don't you think the cut would be a perfect match?

Yay, you go for it! I can't imagine that the OMC diamond would look less than fabulous with ANY watch! Do you have a pic of your watch?

I think the old, chunky cuts can look quite masculine. What sort of setting are you thinking about?

I think this is an excellent choice for a men's ring!

Apologies for the poor photo effort. Strange to put the watch on as yet to brave wearing it, I don't know how to get over the nausea of wearing something of its value. How on earth do women manage to wear such expensive diamonds on their fingers? Rhetorical.
The old mine diamond I feel would complement the watch as its not too flashy, had tried on a .75 carat Hearts on Fire D colour and it was not right at all even though some would consider it the best. Would have bought a different watch if I wanted to be flash. Perhaps a simple brushed platinum band would be enough, certainly I think if your lucky enough in the present times to have a secure job it would be foolish to look too showy.

I think Patek, as a rule, is considered to be understated elegance.
Although it's known as one of the world's finest watches, not a lot of people have even heard of them.
Many years ago, a guy who sold a lot of watches told me the five top names in watches.
Rolex, Rolex, Rolex, Rolex, and of course, Rolex.
But that's only taking into consideration what's the best known. Rolex is far flashier ( which is part of the attraction for some, guiltily raises hand)
Vacheron Constantin is another of the "uber" brands of watches.

Anyway- I agree- a platinum band with the diamond bezel set- low, into the ring- would be the type of understated elegance to speak the same language as your amazing new watch......and congrats on that!

In terms of one particular diamond being "better" than another- for example, is a D color better than an M color?
It costs more, and for those who love colorless stones, and have an eye for such things, it's worth the money. But my position has always been, that does not make it "better"

I'm really taken with Old Mine Cut Diamonds - based on their visual attributes.
But the fact they are so...different from a traditional modern round brilliant- is another part of the attraction for me.

Sorry, not trying to be a reverse snob. Love Rolex but boy do they look big on my wrist. The Patek is big for me but is really 'dull' looking in a warm way! I bought it for its movement. Its the white gold version but is no way near the bright rhodium of other 'white' gold. Hence platinum ring metal, or is there such a thing as white gold that isn't rhodium finished? Oh dear showing my ignorance, but then rose gold is solid? What I mean is what are the other 6 parts of 24 in 18ct white gold? Anyway a D stone for me is factory bright, me I'm not a shiny looking guy. Thanks for your efforts in such a good website, will need to count my pennies.

I love your choice!
It looks great on your wrist, and there's simply NO finer watch in the world.

I love white gold as well.
If you want us not to rhodium the gold, we can skip that step.

Rose gold can be either 18kt ( 75% gold 25% alloys) or 14karat ( 58% gold 42% alloy)
We usually use 14karat simply because it's easier to get the rosy color when we manufacture the ring.

Once you're ready, we'll make sure to use each and every one of your pennies to go as far as possible!
I hope we get to work together on this project. I love man's rings.
Did you see the sapphire man's ring we just made?

Certainly a great ring, had looked at the unset stone and was impressed by the lapidary skill. Had imagined it in a gents ring but without the side stones. Glad to see a guy getting a fab stone rather than ending up Halo set on an engagement ring. Honestly have not seen any better mens rings than yours. Once I'm over the watch nausea getting a ring should be easy.

Your new watch is very, very nice. I don't see it as flashy at all. As David said, understated elegance. I think you have excellent taste!

I also think that you've picked the perfect diamond for it. Have a look at the shape of the watch face and the shape of the stone you picked out. They sort of echo each other. Really neat!

I hear you about the shock of wearing something so expensive though. When I first got my engagement ring, I was nervous of wearing it outside the house. When we got married, DH was scared to wear his (modest, plain) platinum band too. I felt a bit queasy when I first got my Longines watch. You do get over it really quickly and they become things you're comfortable wearing and then you can relax and just admire them.

I really hope you do get this ring, it seems like the perfect choice to go with the watch and a nice thing to do with that particular stone. Mind you, I'll be deeply sorry that this means I never get to wear that stone, I've really fallen for it! laugh

What a fantastic watch.  I think the size looks great for your wrist.

As far as the diamond goes, I have a real soft spot in my heart for old mine cuts, so I personally don't think you could go wrong with this one.  The chunky facets make it seem a bit more masculine than a traditional round brilliant, and I think it will compliment, rather than compete with, your amazing watch.
