Yoweeeee - that is going to be an amazing ring - look at that asscher - it's so dreamy -  you could loose yourself looking into it - can't wait to see how this turns out.

And i'm late to the party on the bezel question, but I think it's going to be stunning with the bezel Smiley

I too am late, but that is going to be an amazing ring!!!  And, I think that it will look stunning in a bezel!

Also, I love the dream Smiley  I have strange ones all of the time.  And, let me tell you it is much better to be dreaming about diamonds than about work  Grin

I have been lusting after that Asscher myself.  Nice to know that it will be treated properly and will go to a good home.

Thanks for all your help in making my decision!  I'm sure it'll be just lovely.  I hope I'm allowed to take pictures before it's put away (until our anniversary in July).

Meanwhile, I'm already squirreling away money for my NEXT acquisition <LOL>.  Probably stud earrings-- maybe some similar to the 1.44 princess cuts that are on the website. :-)

YES I hope you can take pics before July too!!!  pray I can't wait to see it.  I too wonder why the factory is hesitant about milligrain on the bezel....

I wonder why the factory is hesitant, too.  I have three rings that have millegrained bezels.  Anyway, your ring sounds like it will be gorgeous, millegrain or not!!

I do not know what their reasoning is, BUT I will say that I have personally changed my mind about this preference.  I used to really love milgrained bezels for the antiquey feel but a) I have seen a number of them where the milgrain around the center was really uneven and looked terrible and b) looking at my new halo (as well as my halo earrings) in the mirror, I realize that the shininess of the smooth bezel gives an optical illusion that makes the center look bigger!!  When I have seen the milgrained bezels, I have always seen the centers look smalled than they should look for their measurements.  Just a thought.

BTW, here is a picture of mine just as an example.

I was thinking the same thing GL...that a smooth bezel would make the center stone look larger. Beautiful ring btw!! 4

Simply GORGEOUS!!!!!  I am leaning that way too ... with asscher or a squarish cushion cut!  Hubby has cooled on the idea of buying a diamond "online!"   Any tips on that ...LOL.  I think I will have him speak to David next week and once they talk he will come around!! Wink  Plus I showed him Snoopers Halo and this thread and he doesn't think I am completely crazy anymore!   hello2

Hi Elizabeth,

I'm purchasing earrings from David for the first time and never even heard of DBL until a little over a month ago as I was searching the internet for dealers selling asschers.  David's refund and trade up policy is unmatched by others as far as I have been able to see (so he really takes the risk, which speaks to his conviction in his diamonds and his finished work, IMHO).  Plus, look at all of the gorgeous jewelry he has produced for all of these women, who post picture after picture after picture of their joy!  I'm sure you'll be able to convince him!  cross

I am wondering if they won't millgrain the bezel because in order to do it the stone would already have to be set.  They would have to apply too much heat to an area so close to the stone that they might risk smoking it?  I know this is an issue with sapphires and other heat treated stones.  Just a thought!

I am sure it will be beautiful!

Hmmm...now that I said that...I noticed my marquise has milgrain around the bezel...Huh??

Hi All,
In fact, I did not actually ask our setters- I assumed.
Since other people have millgrain on their bezels, it must be possible, therfefore we can do it.

I love the way a perfectly done bezel looks- it's rare to see one as good as I like them to be. Maybe that's why I never even asked about putting millgrain on them.
In any event, it's not what I like that's important here.
So I'll do further research!

DH told me that I would be able to see the ring for a bit to make sure everything is as I expected, and then I could take one picture :-).   He said, "That way, you'll have something to look at for the next few months."  Ooooooh, he is a stickler, that one.

Our anniversary is July 19th, BTW.   Roll Eyes Tongue

Robin, you need to tell him that you will have to take at least 100 pictures as jewelry is notoriously difficult to photograph!  Then you can choose the best one to stick on the fridge!   Grin

True! True!   You definately can't take just one pic!  I would say take the best one and blow it up to poster size and hang on top of your ceiling over your bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That way you can have inspiration every time you wake up!!  You may think that is drastic....but that is something this diamondaholic would do.  tongue3 July couldn't come soon enough for me!! animal-smiley-071    ~Ronda
