If there aren't diamonds in heaven, I'm not going!

« on: April 24, 2007, 07:59:40 AM »

Okay, I know we have some very creative people on this board.  I also know that most of us are a little asscher crazy!  So, here's something to think about:  how would you set the new 1.51ct asscher?.

It might be a pendant.  It might be a ring.  In might be in a skian dhu (well........only if my hubby decides to offer his ideas on this thread  Grin !!).  Let's see what we can come up with girls (and guys!  Cheesy ).  Pictures, sketches, ideas - post away!  This diamond is such a stunner and a great price to boot.  I know we can come up with some great ideas for this one!

I'm going to work on a couple of sketches tonight and I'll post them later.  The only limit on this is your imagination!  Remember, this is just for fun - it's always good to have dreams, right?!   Grin

DJ-
I've always liked these two settings for asschers.

DJ, I like your husband's idea...oddly enough I have one.
DJM, I am in love with the first setting...can you imagine how much finger real estate that would take up?

Or, how about the centerpiece of a bracelet with other step cuts ?

Trust me, I have been giving lots of thought to this one, as I would so love to take this guy home!

I would either set it like the that first picture djm posted (LOVE that!), or I would put it in a split shank halo, but a dainty one, with bead set RBs and a shank that starts closer together on the sides but tapers up wider.  I have been trying to find a picture to illustrate what I mean but cannot, though I saw it on a friend last week and could not stop staring!

I love the first setting DJM posted.  But I could see it with side stones like traps, matching asscher, or baguettes.

I think it needs to be "clean" you know? DJ, why do I get the feeling this project is... yours?Huh? Smiley

I wonder if there's scope to add a touch of sapphire to that stone? Maybe with a baguette halo of good vivid Kashmir blue? Something yummy about asschers and sapphire, I think. Very Art Decco. Although I too would vote fot that first setting as it is - very sleek, very beautiful.

It's going to be a stunner, however it's set.

You're right about sapphires and asschers looking very art deco, Jen.  That would make an awesome combination too.  So many yummy ideas!

OK, I am in mad passionate love with this stone!  Here are two more options I would consider, should my boss decide I deserve a 200% raise tomorrow (I am worth it, right?)). . .

If he wasn't doing his best headless chicken act right now, he probably could Ronda!!!!  I don't think we'll convince him to run off right now looking for this setting with no-one actually buying it!  Nice to dream though, huh?  And I do love that setting!

GL, this one is starting to call your name........I swear I can hear it........ Grin

lI wonder, with such a very lovely asscher, if less might actually be more in this case? How about that second setting of DMJ's, but with sapphires on the band? Even without the sidestones? I love the split shank halos, but I do wonder if that particular asscher really needs it?? Blue baguettes in a halo appeal to me,  but I would really love that stone prong set, to show off the crisp lines. Actually, if it was mine (I wish) I think I would set it with elegant double claw prongs and the narrowest platinum band I could get away with. No other stones (not often I say that!)and maybe wear it with a channel set band of blue sapphire.

So many yummy options. It really says sapphire to me for some reason though!

Actually if it was mine, I'd probably have it reset a million times, because all of the suggestuions made so far work a nd I could never decide on just one!
