I know that a lot of you like "warmer" (J-K-L) colored stones.  I am drawn to the IDEA of them, because I could get a lot of diamond for my (our? <G>) dollar.

I also like-- really like-- the pink halos.

What do you think about setting an L color stone in a pink halo?  Do you think it would emphasize or de-emphasize the tint?

Also, I wear an H color on my other hand-- do you think this would make me notice the tint more?  (I know that only I can decide whether that would bother me <G>.)

TIA!

I really don't know the correct response to this one Robin - definitely need to run it past David.  My inclination would be to say that the pink may well accentuate the tint but then again it may give the stone a whole new personality.  You're gonna have to run this one by the master!

That's a pretty hard call.  I think a lot of it depends on the specific diamond.

I'm going to attach a picture of Snooper's new pink halo ring.  The center is a J color, so that should give you a little bit of an idea.

Hi Robin,
RE: Having two diamond rings, showing a difference in color
The difference in shades is not all that easy to see- especially if we're talking well cut, lively diamonds. Once they're set it's even harder to see the difference.
Still, some people are extremely sensitive, and will notice.

Are both the same shape?

Re: Pink Diamond Halos and "Warmer "colors.
I love the combo.......

Here's a J color Center with pink Halo

below is a light/faint yellow diamond we graded S-T in color.

I'd like to say that I'm fairly color sensitive but I now appreciate it  more.  2 years ago I'd never consider anything below an H!!!

My halo as Annie was so sweet to post.  When I'm outside and in the sun, the EC looks white to me! Yet when I'm in a darker room w/ less light? It does show the color a bit more, especially if I compare it to my G Engagement Ring.

I was wondering if the pink halo emphasized the color or lack of color in the center diamond.  But even when it's not as white as a F/G, etc., it looks ohhhhhhh so romantic.  And for the record, the EC that David pics are AMAZING!  I seriously doubt you'll ever find nicer EC diamonds!!

snooper, what size is your EC? i have been contemplating one of david's pink halo rings myself. i was wondering how a K color would look. inparticular the 2.25 k vvs1 up on ebay.

My EC is a GIA 1.01 carat J VS2 stone (I believe).  Sometimes it looks as white as my G in certain light, but others I can see the "color" more.  It depends on the light  I guess.  If I compare it say, in my bathroom (ave. lighting) w/ my G color ER? I can see a difference, but it's not HUGE. Let me know if you need more info!

Hi Robin,
If it's any help,  I just got my M - there is certainly a tint, and it is just lovely. As others have said, in some lights, it looks pretty white, in others, I fancy I can almost see lemon in there (that might be wishful thinking on my part, and my friends, family and colleagues may now be at the stage of getting together to buy me a yellow just to stop me asking "does it look yellow now?" every couple of hours). I wear an I on my hand and although there is a difference, it is interesting and cool, I think - every diamond has its own personality! Love the idea of a halo with a warmer colour, or an antique setting.

Jen, what shape is your stone and how did you have it set?  I did buy the L color Asscher, and it should arrive in a week or two set in a pink halo.

Robin,
That is going to be one amazing piece! Sounds gorgeous. A pink halo is top of my current wish list!

My stone is a pear, set in a pendant with a baguette - David was kind enough to post some pics before he mailed it to me - it's in show off your jewels. I haven't managed to take pics myself yet, because there hasn't been a blink of sunlight since it arrived. Can't wait to see your pics.

I will do just as soon as I get my camera back! DH has taken it to work to do something dull! Tried to take a few (dozen) shots with my mobile, but just blur! I'll get onto it asap!
