Wow - Jewellk, that dress is stunning! I really like the color.

Thanks so much about the shipping tip EMJ! They have a lot of dresses that I like.

Gosh Annie, everyone has been so helpful...and i'm like you - not reallly got the 'bride' gene...or the 'girly' gene even....i'm hopeless with clothes really.

But I was thinking silver or gold or pearly colours - still weddingy but not white.

Love love love the one Jewel posted...and love DJ's last one - very snappy!

Good luck!!

Annie, I feel your pain. I really had a hard time finding a wedding dress I liked too. But I love the dress that Jewellk posted. I bet that would make your waist look smaller with the way it wraps around. I love dresses that do that! It looks like it's more of a high-waisted dress too. I bet it would elongate your legs & make you look taller. It would be fun to go with something other than the traditional white too........but I don't think I'd go with a dark color, being a wedding.

Let us know what you decide. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the support Ruby and Amy!

I really am looking for lighter colors, but it's quite hard to find things right now.  I'm hoping as it gets a little closer to spring that I'll have more choices.  I really like that lavender color that DJ posted.

I really like the lavender one and the last one jewellk posted! Both of those would be stunning and look great on you! Now that I know what you look like! What color are your eyes though? I couldn't tell by the pictures. I will start surfing a couple of sites that I get e-mails from and if I find anything I'll post it here!

Then your right green would look awesome on you and I think lavender is a really good color on people that have green eyes too! I have hazel eyes and when I wear lavender it makes the green pop in my eyes! I think that's why I like the lavender dress that was posted! Not to fancy or to plain, not to long and would flatter your figure!

I got a phone call from my mom today, and she said that she decided that she's going to sew me a dress.  I'm not sure how I feel about this, but it's not a huge deal for me so it's not worth hurting her feeling over.  It will probably turn out nice, so I'm not going to stress over it.  She said that she found a pattern that looks a lot like the lavender dress that DJ posted.

I'm a little nervous because I've never actually seen her sew a dress before, but I know she's made other things...  She's going to make a 'practice dress' out of a cheap material to see how it goes.

The waiting game begins...

That is so sweet that your mom is going to make a dress for you!  Will you post pics to show us the dress as it progresses?

I wish I could, but I'm away at college right now so I can't take pictures of the process.  I will be sure to get a couple pictures whenever I get home though!

That is so sweet of your mom! But have a back-up dress just in case! I'm glad she is doing a practice dress first! Does she sow a lot? What does she usually sow?

I wish I could say that she did sew a lot, but she doesn't.  She's usually quite busy, but she has some down time right now.  I think she did more sewing when she was younger.  I've seen her make things, but not really very many pieces of clothing...  I'm sure she'll do a good job though.  She's very much a perfectionist.

You know what Annie, I think that is adorable.  And the practice dress will help her (and you) out alot.  Any mistakes or improvements can be made.  Everything is much easier the second time around.

Eeeeeek!!!  Annie...you are getting married!! This still excites me...I can't even imagine how you feel...you seem very calm and composed!

My mom and I made a dress for my wedding. We had every intention of getting it done before the date but unfortunately, it didn't happen. It worked out well though, I wore a gorgeous dress for my wedding in Mexico (first picture) then I secretly finished the dress my Mom and I made for our reception here in town which was a few months after the wedding (remaining pics) my Mom was so surprised!

It really was a special experience making the dress with my mom. Although we didn't finish it for the wedding, I still got to wear it and I will keep it forever! We are now making the  bedding for the baby's room. Smiley

Sorry those are so small!! I don't know where I have them saved right now other than photobucket..I pulled them from there.

Good luck Annie and I agree with WM...you might be surprised at how well it turns out and it will have so much more sentimental value than just any old dress!!

Edit: Maybe this will be better:
