I don't think I ever posted my ring/s.  I got married in September, lovely day etc ..

I'm sure a few of you remember I had a bit of a drama choosing what type of wedding ring to go with my E/R which is just a plain RB on a solstice setting.  I really wanted something knockout in terms of a wedding band but I just got flustered and couldn't decide so I went with a 2mm platnium comfort fit band.

I searched high and low for the solstice wedding band to match the E/R but I couldn't find it in platnium - so hard to source things in Australia.  I asked a local jeweler to make it but he wanted to charge about $2,000 for a band which I simply could not justify at that point in time as we had so many other things to pay for - in the end I ran out of time and went for the 2mm band which you see in the pic.  The band looks quite thin as compared to the E/R band but I don't really mind it much anymore - it used to bug me but I got over it quickly ..

My E/R was a totally different story - I used always look at everyone elses ring and think - OMG lovely - that is my inspiration - I want that.. but then I would always retire to the safety net of a solataire.  I really wanted something like 'chopper' - but my fiance always wanted me to have a simple ring because I change my mind too often..  he's right !

Here is a pic - sorry its not the best, I've only got one pic at the moment.   I will try to post a few wedding photos later on .. oh its a 1.55ct, J VS1.

Hey! Good to hear from you! Thanks for sharing your ring! Classic and lovely! I'm glad you didn't spend $2k on a plain plat band!! INSANE!!! I don't mind the look at all (the band differences) and who knows.  You might want that smaller band say if you were to get a diamond band down the road (use the current band as a spacer) you know?

Thanks snooper - you made me feel a lot better ! I'm so glad I didn't spend the money either because the actual solstice band is about 3 - 3.5mm thick and together they would have been pushed down to my knuckle - (I have short fingers)

Here is a pic from the day - not entirely clear but we don't have many 'great' ones .. you can see my dress fairly clearly - it kinda twists into a knot at the front and falls straight down - its about 4 layers of chiffon .. well as clear as can be - oh and you can see my new husband !

Oh, I love that look! The plain band with your solitaire is just lovely. Classic and really attractive. My wedding ring was made to be worn without my ering, because my fingers are short, but I ended up wearing them together, and often wish I'd gone for a band like yours. It really makes your diamond pop!

Looks like you did have a happy, wonderful day - thanks for sharing the pics!

I love it too!  In fact, my wedding band is almost identical.  It is great because I can wear it no matter what other ring I add to it, and I feel it is the most important to have on.

LOVE  the picture!!  Can tell you look gorgeous, and best of all, you both look sooooo happy, which is how its supposed to be!

The band and the ring are lovely together.  Just like you and your classically elegant dress – a PERFECT match! Your bouquet and hair add the final touch of perfection.  Beautiful photo. Best wishes on your new life together!

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.

I will try to get a few more pictures.. ms k - I will try to get a few more clearish ones.  My camera doesn't exactly capture the beauty of my diamond that I see in the sunlight .. I think I'm going to have to buy a plant and do some of those plant pictures !!

My sentiments exactly!

I am glad you didn't pay $2000 for a plain band...platinum or not.     Hold out..you will find that perfect band and the current band will be a nice "separator" band.

I love your ring and I like the idea of a diamond eternity with your band as a spacer.  Very classic.  The dress is gorgeous, I love seeing wedding photos.
Congratulations to you both.  Your husband looks very proud and so he should be.
Beautiful hands by the way.

I'm still trying to figure out how that jeweler in AUS came up with $2,000 for a plain plat band!!!!!! What, was it like... 20mm wide? LOL

I forgot, but does your stone have fluor? Seriously had I known what I do now, I would have gotten my princess w/ Fluor! I kept thinking "FLUOR=BAD=MILKY" Sad

Thanks everyone for the beautiful comments, you're all too sweet.

Joia, I've never thought I have nice hands !  I might take more care of them now !

Here is one I just found of us together.  Although we had a photographer we ended up being very disappointed with the photos.  They just turned out really flat and it probably didn't help that it was a really cold and windy day.  The best photos were the ones that friends took and that means so much.

Here is another pic, its us saying our thank you speech .. can you believe my husband forgot to thank me .. Later on he apologised what must have been a million times over .. so I forgave him ..

I'm not sure if I told you guys but it was on our wedding night that I told him I had bought our little baby Beagle Maggie and she would be arriving in 4 weeks .... he looked at me and said .. you have picked your timing quite well .. how can I say no to you tonight ?  So with that Maggie May arrived four weeks later .. otherwise he would never have said yes

So where are they now .. together on the couch all snuggled up ... Awee .. and he didn't want her  Wink

You can see his band.  I was going to get him a plat band but again .. prices in Australia are crazy.  I went to order him one from the states and then I started to read up on plat bands and then considering he would never take it off .. even working on engines etc .. I went for a tungsten carbide ring.  He was so happy with the colour and its really proved a great choice.  He has battered it around a fair bit and it still seems to be in tact.

Snooper, yes I've got a blue fluoresce in my ring.  To be honest I didn't know that much about it when we got it .. only that if we had a lower colour, we should look at a blue because it makes it whiter ?  Whether or not this is true, we got it anyway.  I'm happy with it either way.  Goodness - a D was completely well and truely out of our price range !

I do have a few other pics but photobucket is soo slow !

Again, thanks for the gorgeous comments, I'm so very humbled x

Nah, I really do NOT like the higher colors, as they look sorta... fake.  But this is not to offend those who have them!

Yeah fluor can make a diamond look whiter! Pretty cool!

I gotta say in your last pic, you sorta look like Anne Hathaway! You know, the Princess Diary girl.

I was in Bally in NY and the sales lady she she would be embarrassed to have me pay for some shoes .. in the end of all the confusion about me wanting to pay etc .. she thought I was Sofia Cuppola (spl ?) .. I had shorter hair I guess, up to my shoulders and was carrying a Vera Wang Bag .. being Australian we didn't know who she was.  We went and looked on the internet and thought nope .. she looks Italian ! Gave us a giggle anyway.

Just on diamond colours .. you know - I'll have a D or a J or a K etc .. anytime .. I don't care really.  To me all diamonds and uniquely beautiful.  I worked at Tiffanys in Bond Street the Christmas holidays a couple of years back and I was amazed at how many people would say this is my budget and I want a D coloured diamond.  You would explain, yes you can go down to a F/G and have this size but they have researched colours and they insist they want the best colour possible and you can't change their mind... not that we are encouraged to.  I'm sure if it were up to the lady receiving the ring, they would rather a 1ct G .. than a .25 D IYKWIM ..

Sorry I've come late to this thread but I just wanted to say that your engagement ring and wedding band look like they were made for each other.  Your eye is drawn to the fab diamond and it looks HUGE on your hand.

I adore your wedding dress and the way you've got your hair - you and your new hubby look like you were enjoying your special day.  May you have many many many happy years together.

Oh, I missed that last picture!  I just love how joyful you both look in each photo.  Really a beautiful thing!  And I do see the Anne Hathaway thing too, although I sure wish you had been able to cash in on the Sofia Coppola mistake!!
