and the stress is weighing me down! We've been engaged since 09/30/06 and I've done most of everything but I feel like the stress really started coming down last week. Did anyone else feel this way? I keep saying I can't wait to be married already.  Wink

Welcome lollipop!  I think it is impossible not to feel stressed just before your wedding!!  Pull up a chair and a glass of wine and enjoy some diamonds to take your mind off of it all!

OK, so do we get pictures of your engagement ring?? Grin

Congrats BTW!!!

Congratulations lollipop!

Like GL said, I don't think it's possible for you not to be stressed so close to your wedding.  At this point, I would recommend just sitting back and enjoying it as much as possible.  I'm sure everything will be lovely.

Ace, one of our members, just got married a couple of weeks ago.  Maybe he'll chime in with some advice!

Please feel free to jump in anywhere, we're very glad to have you!

I should be getting my ring back on Friday and I'll post pics then. It's nothing like your lovely pieces (student budget) but I'm very excited all the same! It's 3/4 carat total weight with 1/3 being a round center stone and 1/2 ct being lots of round framing diamonds. I'm having the center stone lowered with a rose gold bezel and I'm hoping to one day either request a 1/3ct  super light pink diamond or getting a better quality white center stone from David later.

Diamonds do help the troubles to go away don't they? ha ha ha

Your ring sounds beautiful lolli!  Will you be willing to share pictures once you get it back?  I can't wait to see the rose gold bezel!

Congrats Lolli...planning a wedding is very stressfull, especially this close to the holidays. All your efforts will be worth it and in the end, the most important thing is that you will be marrying your FI.

Good luck with everything! I'm sure it will all be fine!

Absolutely! I used to have a vintage looking eng ring with a pink tourmaline as a center stone and that is currently being made into a pendant, (I'll show pics of that as well) and now I'm working at a jewelry store and I was salivating at the upgrade prospects, but I never saw a ring I liked until this one. I'm a bit nervous since all the stones in the piece are white and the bezel is rose but I love the two tone effect.

Noone on this forum will ever complain about someone going on about jewelry!!

I think the contrast will be beautiful. My ER has all white diamonds with white gold and rose gold. Sorry for the really bad photo but it's the best I could do right now!

Your fiance might limit your time here because once you befriend this group you will beg borrow and steal to get that pink.  I am seeing Sanchica in Lolli.  This is the group that talks about their "first, second and third ER"  The good news is that most of the time they still have the same DH.   HA!

Ooooh! Jewellk that ring is BEAUTIFUL! I really can't wait to get my ring back now.

Ha ha GIAgirl my fiance said something like that when i brought up my upgrade a few years too early. He said "Hey you're a woman, you like shoes and jewelry and you'll never stop. I knew what I was getting into" I'd get offended if it wasn't true!

I told my fiance from the get go that I'd upgrade eventually, after the first and when we bought this one. At least I'm honest  Grin

I ain't hating on no upgrade!  I am counting on it.  I am a sentimental person, but I am weak to David's trade up policy.  Diamond's are everyone's kryptonite!!!  My DB knows that as well.   That is why he said he would propose with a check.  He said I would only trade it for something else later on.

lol, the check idea is awesome!!!!  i actually am quite sentimental and the ring i get married with is the one i will always keep.  that's why we bough plain white gold wedding bands, we're going to use them for the ceremony this way we will always have our wedding rings.

Sanchica that's how I feel about my 1st engagement ring, since it's the one he presented to me. I know I wouldn't wear it anymore as a ring so I'm making it into a pendant and I'll wear it on my wedding day and any other day I want a pretty necklace to show off. Smiley

My Dad is the sentimental one.  This is a true story.  My mom and dad were grad students and they got engaged.  He asked her about a ring and my mom said "look I am going to be honest.  I do not want you to go into debt for something I cannot see...and then have to pretend to be all sentimental about it."

Sooo...she got a band and my dad said she could get or do whatever she wanted as long as she had the same band she got married with.  It was a really wide band which kind of went out so she had it cut in half and twisted into rope bands on either side of her three stone...it looks so cool.  SO I am sentimental about the wedding bands. ANNND I would be sentimental if it were some 3.04 FLY or blue diamond ring that David sold recently.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding lollipop!  Yes, the last week does get very stressful and you will probably feel more like strangling your intended than marrying him in the last couple of days.  I actually dumped mine at a motorway service station the evening before we got married!  I was so mad at him!  I made his friends pick him up!  So don't worry too much - it's all normal and it will all work out just fine on the day.

Can't wait to see pics of your ring with the rose gold.  I bet it is beautiful!  I also reset my original ER stone (white pear) into rose gold and it turn out wonderfully.  I am sure yours will too.  Jewellk's ring is certainly something special - we have long drooled over it here on the forum!  As for Snooper, she has pics of just about EVERY piece that has ever been put up here.  Watch.  I'll show you.

SNOOP?  :yosnoop: Could you post pics here of.......oh, I don't know........CH's O-P round?

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding Lollipop.
It`s the man which matters most, not the ring, that`s the icing on the cake and he sounds to be a good man.
I got engaged in 1971 and my ring was a tiny cluster of diamonds which were so small you needed a magnifying glass to see them. It took me 25 years to have an upgrade to a just over a carat solitaire set in yellow gold. Buying houses, raising kids and educating them sort of got in the way of an earlier upgrade.
As for being stressed, well i`d say it`s natural.
The night before my wedding we had an argument and in the heat of the moment I threw my engagement ring at him and told him the wedding was off. This happened outside, in the dark on the path outside my parents house and I`d to get my Dad out of bed and there he was in his pyjamas shining the torch whilst I searched the ground for my ring. Thankfully I found it and went on to have 32 happy years with the same man until he passed away.
Love your wedding and enjoy every moment of it.

Lynne you made me laugh.  My mother threw hers in the river and was she sorry afterwards........she told me later that she was just crossing a bridge and the row came to a climax and she was always a bit volatile (putting it mildly) and that was the end of  the ring.  I have no idea what it was like because she wouldn´t tell me.......lol.
