I'm dancing around the house, whooping and singing (with a rather startled baby) Doing a happy dance, bubbling with excitement, cheering and yelling with pure joy.

Why?

I just spoke to David about ordering my maternity gift. He's going to make me one of his very beautiful rings. I'll wear it for now then gift it to my daughter on her wedding day (I'm thinking ahead here...)  Someone please remind me of this when the time comes, there's a chance I'll 'forget' about that part!

Excited? Oh, I'd say so!  Grin  Bet you thought my baby would have graduated from college before I ever made up my mind, right?

Yeeee haaaa!!!

I will not only remind you but I am now taking a copy of this to put in a safe with an envelope which says for Miss Amelia on her wedding day.    Grin Grin Grin Grin

Put a plane ticket in that envelope too. That way you can come and prise it off my finger. Grin

Actually, I'll be happy to hand it on to her while I'm (hopefully!) still around to see her enjoy it. My plan would be to buy her asscher studs and a pendant for 18 and 21st birthdays, so she has a set to wear on her wedding day if she wants to. If she promises never to put me in a care home when I'm old and dribbling, I'll think about a bracelet too.

Hey Jen
That`s great news. Can`t wait to see it. Unlike some of us ( ie me ) you`re a dab hand with the camera and actually take decent photographs. Enjoy the ring and the idea of matching penant and earrings sounds great to me.
PS you do realise if you ever have another little girl then you`ll need to begin collecting another suite of jewellery for her wedding day too, maybe EC or cushion cuts lol. DH will be pleased .... Evil

Sorry, should have given you all the details!

I've gone for a five stone asscher band. Lovely, wonderful David is going to pick out the five gorgeous little matching asschers and have them set in the usual gleaming, perfectly polished platinum. I'm soooo excited. This will actually be my first DBL ring. I've got a pendant and some studs, but no ring, so even more exciting. Ok, I'll take a deep breath and calm down now. LOL.

Interestingly, DH is managing to keep a lid on his enthusiasm, but I'm sure he's thrilled too, deep down.

I had fun trying on different styles locally and the five stone bands looked really nice on my hand. And on my baby's hand too. I did take a pic of her trying on a nice 2ct solitaire asscher, but it's on my cell phone. Will try to download it later. The people in the big expensive high end store clearly wanted to through me out, but didn't quite have the nerve.  Grin  That really was fun. Plus, they were helpful enough to tell me that an IGL certificate is the best you can get. Gosh. I didn't know that...

It's a special order and I live miles from the nearest fed ex depot, so it could be a while before I have pics to post, but don't worry, there will be plenty!

What sort of mother am I??? I never even thought of that! It should really be engraved with my baby's name and date of birth, shouldn't it?

My knuckles have swollen so much that I need a substantially larger ring size now. There's probably room in there to engrave her name, birthdate, blood group, height, weight and eye colour.  Grin

Jen,
I know that you've wanted this style ring for awhile.  After all kinds of considerations (and I KNOW you've gone 'round and 'round with this decision!), I think that the Asscher band is the PERFECT choice for you and Amelia.  It is a timeless, elegant, and yet, slightly unusual design. It will be an unforgettable piece, for sure. And, I agree... the engraving idea sounds wonderful. Now, although you purport to have all sorts of "room" to engrave a novella inside the band, perhaps, if you keep the message a bit shorter, you can save room for any sizing that may or may not need to occur down the road.  Roll Eyes

And, of course, I LOVE the idea of matching pieces.  And even BETTER, the idea of an entirely NEW suite for another daughter.  Although, if you have a little boy someday, the entire plan must be altered.  OH! I know! Perhaps, you could get some large earrings and a maching pendant that could be altered to cuff links and a tie tack later...  dontknow

(I can't believe you're allowing your gem addiction to influence innocent Amelia... have you NO shame?  Pics please...  Grin).

Jen- I love that ring! What a nice, timeless treasure. And with the dollar like it is, you UK folks should be buying like mad. And obviously, some of you are!

What a great choice!  The asscher band was the piece that drew me into DBL.  I would literally pull up the pic and drool over it day after day.  I still consider it to be my all time favorite ring because it's so classic and classy.  I'm looking forward to seeing the completed piece!

Thanks, GIAGirl, neither can I! I keep visiting it on it's webpage, just drinking in all the asscher loveliness and memorising all the details.

WM, so true! So very tempting, too. I'm going to have to think long and hard about whether it's worth sending a whole fed ex box for one single ring. Evil

lemonluvr, how funny! When I first found DBL, this was THE ring for me too. I just put it out of my mind because I had a hundred other things to spend money on (like, a house...) but I kept coming back to it and in the end, it's the one for me. Maybe you should have one too!

Trinkette & GL, thank you for putting up with my endless indecision in a million PMs and offering good advice. Why do I find it soooo hard to commit to a ring? I took less time deciding to get married. Grin

Cannot wait to see this!

Yup, still over excited. I was shopping for clothes today and everything I tried, I caught myself thinking "hmm. How will this look with my asschers?" It will come as no real surprise to hear that I bought a dress with nice short sleeves, just to be sure they wouldn't  cover it up.

Ditto on the asscher band drawing me to DBL; I still look at it all the time.  It is what inspired my asscher pendant, I love that cut so.
I'm so glad you're getting this band Jen - I know you've drooled over it a long time! EXCELLENT choice for Amilia's future; wow, what a lucky girl she is!!
