I vote for the RB and the Spessartites.

We need some stones with REAL color; get this place hopping!

As far as the spess pair goes, I think people either love the color or are totally turned off. I understand. It looks EXACTLY like spaghetti sauce with glitter (luckily, spaghetti sauce looks good on me  Grin ). Plus, the spess are VERY firey... I just can't capture the fire in the photos.

I really like these paired with the firey, brilliant OP RB; in fact, I'm quite stunned at how the combination turned out EXACTLY how I'd imagined it. No surprises at all. Just to be sure, I did try several other sidestone combos with the diamond, but there is a golden/yellow/red sparkle in both the spessartite pair and the diamond that fires back and forth... like hot, burning embers. They just seem to fit together... for me anyway. The only other worry I had was that the spessartite pair was not deserving of the diamond wih the killer cut, but, I do think they hold their own and compliment the center.  Hey... if I don't like it when it is done, I'll just start again!  Meanwhile, I'm psyched to have something that I hope will be a tad dramatic and different:

This must be the reason I like them so much. Pass me a meatball!!

And, OMC, you're not off the hook either... which THREE do you like?  I think I can guess...

Well, I think at number 1 it's the K cushion; followed (?) at number 1 by the O-P RB and next at number 1 is the orange/brown cushion. Please don't ask to differentiate further, or I shall call the RSPCA.

However, if I am allowed another comment, I think the spessartites - lovely as they are - are too large for a three stone ring.

I like the idea of the orange-brown set with white half moons or traps, though.

OMC, I totally see your point about the too-large aspect of the spess with the RB.  If I had a tad smaller spess pair, I might try it.  However, like my Glarkler ring, I'm going for a three-stone "big band" look" and I'm hoping the scintillation and brilliance of the center stone will carry it off.  The RB really is quite spectacular, so, I THINK that I'll be OK.  If we get to a point where David or a setter says no-go, too awkward, then, I can swap-out the stones, or have the spess recut. I do not want this ring to look completely "normal," so I'm willing to go out on a limb a little here. Meanwhile, I'll give it a bit more thought. Thank you.

Also, I like your OB cushion suggestions.  Generally, I like three-stone rings with maximum East-West finger coverage (as little shank showing as possible). And, when I can do it, I prefer larger-than-average sides that are shaped differently from the center... fat half-moons or traps might just fit the bill perfectly.

BTW, I guessed your preferences in correct order! Now that I've had some time to think about them all, I must admit, the K cushion pops up in my mind most frequently.  It really is exquisitely beautiful.

These stones are fun because each really DOES have it's own personality.

Any other thoughts?  Anyone?

T-I forgot to ask if you had the sides or if D sourced them for you?  Lovely either way!

DL, I've had a little pile of colored stones, some pairs, some potential center stones, for quite some time. My intention has always been to pair them up with diamonds when the right stones come along (and I have the funds); they've been stitting in the dark for WAY too long now. Then, at some point, I may begin dismantling and resetting the gems from a few of my never-worn pieces.

Recently, David had a little diamond that got away before I snagged it... if I'd gotten to it sooner, I would have asked him to source some rubies to flank the diamond as sides in a ring.

I love three stone rings. And I'd have had another if I didn't already have one on my other hand. So my vote is the cushion with the pinks. But I'd want the center to be N/S.

It's a great collection.
