Um... I thought I had the ring sold the other day....so if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.    It just may go on Ebay, although I hate selling on Ebay... Undecided        I think my FIL would like to have the funds...so I better seriously consider selling it....

Sam...I know you have always favored me to keep the pendant!  Don't worry, it is not going anywhere soon! Wink

Well, brace yourself Mikla... this is not a short story.     Someone actually purchased it from me whom I have sent several items to her before.      I made the mistake of leaving out a number on her address... Embarrassed  and it was sent back to my house.     She never received it and we tracked the progress all the way.    When I received the package back to me, it was stamped return to sender, undeliverable unknown address.    The box came back to me empty, slit open ever so slighty on the side of the box and ALL of our addresses where changed.  It is a wonder I ever got the box back.   Naturally, I called the post office and they told me to bring the box, the mailing receipt and proof of purchase, etc... to file a claim since I did insure it.     It normally take 6-8 weeks to get your claim... "IF THEY APPROVE IT"!!    Almost 12 weeks later, and several conversations with the postmaster who was suppose to be taking care of the claim, I finally had to call USPS and file a complaint.    No sooner than I got off the phone with customer service, the postmaster called and said that  may claim was approved and I should be getting my check within 7-10 days. I got it 2 days later!  .........    All in all, I have had a great experience with USPS as I have always felt they were the safest......................   That was an ordeal that I never want to go through again.     I keep checking Ebay to see if this necklace is listed..........  I sure hope the postal thief feels good about what they have done.......   all the evidence shows that it was someone in the postal system who stole it..... Angry     ARe you glad that you asked about this necklace... LOL! Wink Grin       I think I should have kept the necklace after  this ordeal.... Undecided

Wow, that is some story!  You must have been terribly upset by the theft and then subsequent poor handling of the claim.   Cry

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what were the specs on the necklace (if you can recall)?  It was a beautiful piece.

I'll keep an eye out on Ebay for it as well!   police

Best,
Mikla

Wow Ronda, that's quite the story.  I'm sorry you the necklace was taken, but I'm relieved to hear that the claim was paid out.

Well, it is a shame that the pendant is gone.  I've always liked it, LJ, and I remember thinking about purchasing it myself (and I was sorry to hear that it had been sold... one of those snooze you loose episodes!). I'm glad that the USPS came through for you, but, really, it was the LEAST they could do.  It shouldn't have happened at all.  I'll keep an eye out for it on the internet...

Thanks so much everyone.   When the box returned empty... I was just devastated.   I started shaking because I felt so violated.    The postmaster immediately felt that the recipient took it.   The tracking proves otherwise.  It NEVER reached the recipient.         What boggles my mind is the stupidity of the postal employee who changed all of the address info and then sent it back through the system???   Wouldn't it have been better for them just to throw the box on the side of the road?   ...and I wonder if that very person has not been caught and is still working for the post office???    After a 10+ week investigation....  I hope they caught the person.    They never disclosed what they found out.    Undecided

I agree, not the brightest bulb.  But, we may as well be thankful for stupidity... it provided the only clues that may have led to some punitive action.

That just stinks!  But I am glad they put it right.  It makes you wonder how the thief knew there was something really valuable in there and why it seemed worth risking their job.  I mean, people insure bras that they are returning to a catalogue company for crying out loud!  USPS employees get paid very well don't they?  Yikes.  That's why I always mail high ticket items with registered mail but I am glad they paid up Ronda.  I would imagine that was quite stressful.

I can't believe that. I'm glad it was resolved in some way, however. I'll keep a lookout, too.
