I just wanted to share my new, improved diamond solitaire. I just recently (days ago), had my 1.8 ish carat  diamond put into a 6 prong Stuller solstice head, keeping and modifying the existing cathedral mount. I couldn't be happier. I was so pleased with how LARGE, and round the diamond looked (compared to the 4 prong look). It really POPS now, and sits a little lower on the finger as well. I just LOVE the solstice head, how it has a bit of design, character, and really protects my gem!! Here are a couple new pics...

I do like the 6 prong over the 4 prong head much better!  Do you have pics with you other band?

Thanks Ladies. No I don't have pics with my other band(s). If you are referring to the diamond band, I just sold it actually. I had an offer for more than twice what I paid for the band, so off it went. I don't think I liked them together (with the new reset). I am keeping my eyes open for a 1-2 carat 3/4 eternity style, with 10-12 pointers..something REAL sparklie!! For now, I am wearing it with the bezel band, and a plain white gold band..all three..LOVE IT!!

I think a band like this would be lovely with your new re-set Smiley

Now THAT is one lovely rock and setting. Did you have it set in plat. or white gold? Either way it looks very beautiful. How 'bout a sunshine shot?

Just took this one in the sunlight. Set in white gold, not a fan of platinum at at all! The head was platinum at one time (and looked awful, big gouges, scratched up prongs), the jeweler said "platinum is not forgiving and very hard to work with". I do love it... thanks for the kind words!

HI All,
Blondie, whoever was knocking platinum is really misleading you.
Yes, it platinum is more difficult to work in, but it is WAY superior to all other metals for jewelry.
Avoiding platinum simply because a jeweler is less than competant is a bad idea.
All the best houses work in platinum.

The main drawback is cost- platinum can be more than double the price of gold.

Gold is very good, no question- but platinum is simply better.
