I was given a lovely set of bangles on my vacation.  They were picked for me by family in India.  I absolutely LOVE the color of these.  I cannot get over how much they sparkle and shine.

Obviously this isn't anything I can find in the US.  No one works in 22K gold and I understand as it is very soft.  Something about these bangles are very sturdy though and they last forever.  There are hand done so a wee bit rough at first, but over time I am told they will get a great feel and a beautiful finish to them.

So here are a few shots I have of them.  Oh and I'll add a few more in of Sunny as well Wink

They look fantastic! I love how rich and warm 22k gold is. They're a nice look along with Sunny.  Cool

I love those!  I bet with the price of gold, they are worth some money!

Be careful....I think the 22K gold is supposed to be soft.

I don't even want to think about the cost of these as I am still so very touched by the gift.

They are lovely and the color is amazing.  I normally dislike yellow gold, but these are a shade that I just find attractive.

GIAGirl I hear that all the time about 22K gold.  I am not entirely sure what they do with these, but these are meant to last for a lifetime if not more.  The person who gave them to me has had her set for about 40 years and they were a gift from her husband's grandmother who wore hers for a few decades as well.  She has assured me that these are meant to be worn all the time and are very tough.  You can really feel when you put a lot of pressure on the bangles that they do not bend much at all.  They bend significantly less than any sterling or brass ones I have owned.

I was worried about the softness, but she assured me that these will stand up to my son playing with me.  I was at Disney World last week and saw quite a few Indian families wearing similar ones and they all looked lovely too.  So whatever they do to make these, they seem to do a great job!

Most importantly they are special to me.  The person who gave them to me is kind of like a honorary grandmother to my son.  She's a wonderful caring lady and I am lucky to have her in my life Smiley

I have just heard that...maybe David can elaborate.

She must be a special friend to give such a lovely gift.  I really like them.

Trust me I have heard that as well from many many jewelers.  I really can't say why these bangles I have seen on ladies last so well and so long yet other 22K gold items are not very strong.

I love the way they feel on my wrist and I obviously love the look.  I also love that they have bangles in many sizes.  Most here fall right off my hand.  I just hope that whomever I could pass these on to will have smaller hands that they can wear these too as I requested the smaller than average size (which average there is still smaller than here) Wink

She is a wonderful lady.  We're kind of related through marriage and she has touched many people.  Even her dog is much loved by us all.  She is very special and wonderful Smiley

Squigs:  Love, LOVE, LOVE the photos of Sunny.  I can't believe how much I like her new setting.  Your bracelets are great, too.  One of my colleagues wears her wedding necklace daily and the color is soooooo very rich.  Wear them in good health it sounds as though there's alot of love there.

The sun finally came out here Wink  Seriously I swear the sun followed us back.  Today it was bright and beautiful outside.  Not quite as nice as FL but tomorrow might get there too!

I tried to take pictures of her outdoors in FL and they didn't work so well.  Lots of sparkle and fire, so my camera had a hard time focusing on anything.  Indoors I get the lovely color with out the crazy fire and sparkle that makes picture taking very difficult.

Actually the bangles were very hard to photograph as well.  Outside they are amazingly beautiful and sparkle in their own way.

DAF I have a mangala sutra (wedding necklace) as well.  It was given to me shortly after I got married.  I do not wear it as often as I should, but I fell in love with 22K gold then.  I also have some "fun pieces" from India that are probably plated or the like and have that lovely rich color too.  I'm not much for yellow gold here, but 22K stuff I am all over.

My colleague was three years old when her family emigrated here, but the ties to India are very strong.  She was married there.  Interestingly, although the necklace signifies the marriage, she wanted a Western engagement ring and wedding band set - which she got two years after they were married.

22k is soft (i.e. not hard; it will scratch relatively easily) but very tough (tensile strength) - it won't lose metal like some of the harder (and more brittle) gold alloys will; the metal will shift rather than chip.

I have some family members from India, and they have 22k gold that's survived beautifully for decades. It doesn't need to be babied, just worn and enjoyed. It's lovely, and even lovelier knowing that is came to you from such a special person.  I think you'll be ok to wear them every day and pass them on to a DIL one day in the future still in good shape.

those bangles are wonderful, Squigs!  But no more so than the lovely lady who gifted you with them.  you'll always be able to think of her as you wear them.  I have a little cat face brooch given me by a similar friend when I was a young child.  50 years later, I can still recall her face and the warmth she brought to our family so many years ago.  I hope your 'auntie' has many more years to share in your family.

clgwli - This ring is so gorgeous. I posted a photo on facebook but one of yours as a handshot really shows off the yellow. Can I post it on FB? It is your photo so I have to ask permission.

Must check facebook lol
Feel free to use any of these photos on facebook. I am so proud to be wearing this ring that I would love to share it with others. She overwhelms me in a good way daily.

Ah2 I can imagine how much you must treasure that brooch.  I have a few other special pieces like that as well though they are still from family even if more "distant"
