Thanks for the compliments.  I admired the ruby from the time David first put it up for sale loose. I asked him to have it ready for me to look at when I came up to look at the FLY marquise ring that I also purchased.  I liked it then, but it seemed...small, and a little dark.  You couldn't imagine my amazement when he posted it for sale in the ballerina ring.  Literally, I was in awe.  Setting it in white metal really brightened it up.  And considering it's set in platinum and has significant weight, I can hardly feel it on.

Oh WOW! It's exceptional.

The colour of that ruby! I love the little pears in the halo too. Such a gorgeous ring!

It fluoresces blood red, too.  Really cool.

I have a bitty oval ruby unset that does as well (when I say bitty I mean 3mm by 4.25ish mm oval)  I still love getting my black light out just to see it LOL

This means no iron, and therefore no brown tone in the stone either. It's no wonder that (synthetic) rubies were the first material used to produce laser beams...

DAF
I am green with envy. I loved that ring as soon as David posted it. wear it in good health and enjoy it. A ring such as that should be worn daily and admired by the World !

For sure, OMC, absolutely no brown color.  Sometimes it's dark red with a hint of blue. Other times, it is red-purple and reminds me of a fine rubellite. The photos don't lie, this one has multiple personalities.   I wore it out to dinner last night and couldn't stop looking at it and showing it to DF.

I was also reading about how synthetic rubies were used to make lasers.  Interesting!

It's amazing how ambient light affects the color.  Today, at noon while I was out shopping on a dreary, rainy day she was just RED, no other colors.  AND, the diamond layout makes it look like there's more carat weight there than there actually is.

Yes, I think sometime down the road a pair of earrings might be in order.
