Have you ever been on vacation and decided to buy something impulsively that any other time you would think about it for a while first?  I just returned from a week between Myrtle Beach, SC and Charlotte, NC and had a blast with DF.  The whole trip was a shopping spree for me, and it included visits to and purchases from, of all places, pawn shops. I've wanted a flower ring for about a year, and found a cute, reasonably inexpensive, light brown and white diamond ring that does nothing but sparkle.  It's hard to photograph indoors, but I thought I would share it with you all.

Wow, DAF, that's one fun, and lovely, bling-y ring-y. I'll bet it's gorgeous in sunlight, just like a flower should be.

I admit I am curious, how big is that?  It looks like it has some amazing finger coverage.

I bet it looks fantastic in the sun though!!

Hi DAF..... that ring covers some major finger real estate. I like floral rings to. D made a custom openwork flower ring awhile back that I haven't been able to forget. I am seriously considering a big flower ring like that to add to my collection.

I love going to pawnshops too. My hubby finds some amazing things in there. especially in this economy. People have sold some great stuff for cheap to make ends meet. we would be crazy to pass up some good deals right?

Well, shucks, girl!  Maybe you should take a couple of shots of it outside, then.  Amazing find, BTW.  What else did you find on your shopping spree?

I believe the ring is over an inch in each direction, but I'll measure and post when I get home from work.  Carat weight is 1.5 on the diamonds.  They did a nice job setting the stones - the darkest browns are in the middle of each petal, while the lightest are on the outside edge (along with small white diamonds).  I'll try to get a daylight shot, too.

I found some things in the pawn shops to be overpriced for what they were, but I know there's room to haggle.  I let DF do that for me, he loves it.  In addition to the flower ring, I found a fire opal in matrix yellow gold bracelet that must be a custom piece.  Each stone has branches of gold that come up from the bottom and hug the stone to hold it in place.

Plus, I love outlet shopping and even department store shopping.  With the department stores, the buyers vary in their choices, so I can find things that I can't up here in New Jersey.  Oh, and I love Steinmart.  We don't have very many in New Jersey, and they're a distance away.  Their things are always fresh and current.

You know I have found some great things at pawn shops and estate sales.  Sometimes you can find things that people have no clue what they are selling and get it for a steal.  My current diamond pendant was found from an estate sale via ebay for a steal.

I've bought and sold quite a lot of rings.  Sometimes people like me just tire of it and want to pass it on.  Others need the money or have a bad break up and want all the stuff gone.  Any way you look at it, we get the good deals.

I don't do it a whole lot, but for fun pieces it is a great way to find things.

That ring sounds huge!  I'd love to try one on like it for fun Smiley

OK, I arrived home a little late last night and the sun was already down, so no daylight shot yet.  The flower is one inch wide by 15/16ths of an inch tall.  I was also distracted by the UPS delivery of an envelope within a box within another box delivery from a certain jeweler in NYC. heart2

You're one cool cucumber, DAF!  Most of us run in distracted circles when we know there's an envelope in a box within another box from that certain jeweler on the way.   Can't wait for more pictures!

Ah, but I don't have to wait as long.  I'm next day delivery, even with ground shipping.  I'm about 55 miles from NYC.

Well, aside from arriving home late from work and having other commitments to attend to, we've had rain for  a few days.  But today is a bright shiny day, so here it is, all sparkly in the sun.  The color of the browns varies depending on the light.  In certain light, the diamonds are so reflective that they look like faceted pyrite.  I believe the top picture shows the variations in diamond color better.  Oh, and the stone in the top petal that looks sort of yellowish fluoresces strong yellow under UV light.  For good measure, there's a side view and another face view with a nice twinkle.

Oh DAF! what did you do to that FLY heart? I too, love heart shape diamonds. In fact the new 2.10 FLY heart has me all aflutter....... don't know if I will be able to purchase it before someone else though. *sigh* to many diamonds, to little cash.
