I'm trying...

my husband's eyes roll a lot though when we look at things together so I figure it all has to fall on me.  So far he's doing great Grin

Thank you! It's a lovely ring, I can't quite get over how amazing the emerald is in person.

It does look awesome with the band, but I'm scared of hurting them, so they are on different hands at the moment . Wink

Good thinking, you don't want anything to damage that emerald!

The emerald is higher than the asscher band, so I could probably get away with it, but well, the prongs would get eaten eventually and I can't bear to scratch the setting. Its a ring that needs a little bit of babying, I suppose. Emeralds are pretty fragile. That said, my friend has an emerald engagement ring that she wears every day, whatever she's doing. Its fine, no obvious damage. Claw setting, round emerald with rb diamond sides.

My dream engagement ring was a large emerald cut emerald with sapphire trills in 18k yellow gold.  You want to know why?  Because a woman I loved and admired had one and I just fell in love with it.  Her emerald had to be about 5 carats and not only did she wear it every day (I never saw her without it and I saw her almost daily for years) but it was her husband's grandmother's engagement ring before that.  I have NO idea how it remained intact!

I know it's not the best idea to wear them daily but I can't imagine having to NOT wear it just to keep it safe!  That ring is too beautiful not to be seen every day!

It sounds stunning! 5 carats would be awesome, too!

My friend's ring is an antique - the stones are very old cuts, and it's supposed to have been made around the time her house was built, putting it at roughly 1720. Who knows? It's still in nice condition.

Ah, it is a stunning house. Three storeys and basement, of the most beautiful, gracious Georgian styling. I absolutely love it.

Having written online about my friend's beautiful and valuable ring, I'm not going to post a photo of her house, but well, it's gorgeous!
