Well, I must be doing it all wrong too. DH hasn't surprised me with a diamond (although I did have a baby...)
I would of course work very hard at loving anything he picked out for me, but the whole idea of a surprise gift that I musst adore and wear for the rest of my life (while looking pleased) fills me with horrible dread and foreboding. To the extent that, if I was at risk of receiving such a gift, DH would enjoy long periods of celibacy! Grin
