My husband pulled a DSA on me today!  Grin It's a Calla cut diamond pendant, 18kt WG with 1.02 ctw of F, VS1 stones. I had never heard of this cut before today. They are kind of like very fat marquise stones and boy, oh boy do they sparkle. And did I mention the fire? I wish you could see it in real life. The pictures just don't do it justice! I think I have to be nice to him now for awhile, LOL.

Great job Catmom's Hubby!!! I too haven't heard of them that I remember, but those are CUTE!! What a great DSA!!! Your husband has great taste! I like how even the necklace (is this new?) ties in well w/ the pendant with the little white balls!!

Oh my goodness, what an amazing DSA!  I would be knocked to the floor out of shock if my fiance brought home any sort of jewelry, much less an amazing pendant like that one!

I actually was looking around online at that cut of diamond earlier this year - it really does look very pretty.  Such  a unique piece!

i first heard of that while ering shopping, but i must admit, this is the first time i have seen one someone has purchased and it is just lovely! wow! it really does sparkle and the pendant looks so nice and big! he pulled off one heck of a dsa! wear it proudly!

Thanks, everyone!! Yes, I'm very, very lucky and spoiled by my hubby. He's a wonderful man.

Yes and no on the special occasion question. My birthday is tomorrow but my sapphire ring was an early birthday present so I didn't expect anything from him but a card. He has a really rough work travel schedule coming up though, and I think he's feeling bad about having to be gone so much. So this was a "you deserve it for putting up with the travel" kinda gift.

Closest I've seen to that cut in real life is Duchesse cut. Again, similar to Marquise, but fatter. I'd really, really like one. Your pendant is making me get those "need a new diamond" jitters...

Wear it in good health, hope your DH is back from his travels soon.
