Anyone want to guess what size diamond pointers the emerald ring has? On the site it says .07 and the center stone is 6mm.

Thanks lovecolor, ah2qbat, diamondsareforever and clgwli!

Diamondluvr, I love your pillowy pendant! It's super cute!

Hi diamondjunkie, I did see that page Cheesy

GIAGirl, I'd love to have two little hearts to the sides of Valentina... I wonder if it would be much pricier though... hmm.

Well given that your average 7 pointer is about 2.7 mm in diameter I will guess that is a carat total weight and not 7 points each.

I took the photo and measured it digitally so I am gettnig approximate pixel sizes.  The melee on this ring are approximately 1/6 of the width of the diamond.  The metal adds more but the diamonds themselves are probably about 1mm across which means they are less than 1 point each.

If the math is good they are about 2/5 to 1/2 a point.

That's if my math is good and I'm not so good at math Wink

Hehe! Thanks clgwli! I suck at math so I am always happy to have others do it for me  Grin

BTW I am now considering the option of getting a pink lemonade ring made from the yellow heart. HMM!  4

Well remember thi iss my math, so it may or may not be correct.  The 1/6 width part is right though at least Wink

I actually almost suggested that pink lemonade before, but wasn't sure if the halo would be big enough.  Compared to the emerald ring I am very confident it would be.  I would love to see a heart shaped ring like that Grin

Yeah, the total ring size is what made me overlook the pink lemonade option before but seeing all the pretty lemonade rings is making me crave one. Have you seen R3882? It is TOTALLY out of my price range but I like to stare at it and drool  Kiss

So I asked David about setting my heart in R3478 style and it's going to be outta my price range  Undecided but pink lemonade will be possible and David thinks it would look very nice! So pink lemonade is going to be my default option.

Just today I suddenly started wondering if I should consider a double halo of colorless diamonds kinda like R4014... what do you guys think? Will it be too OTT?

Anyone here have photoshop abilities who can help me do a pink lemonade mockup and a R4014 mockup?  Evil

Before anyone volunteers me, I have to say creating a double halo for a heart w/o a whole lot of heart halos out there will be a lot of work for me.... if I have time this weekend I will do it.  Hearts are so different to photoshop without contorting things a lot.  So I am happy to try to help, but this isn't just a quick 'shop for me to do.

I am torn on the idea of a double halo for a heart.  I absolutely adore that ring.  I really would love a small version for my right hand even in all colorless, but I know I don't have the funds for that at this moment.  So I really do love them a lot!  I just have a harder time picturing it with a heart.  Again if I have time this weekend I will try to 'shop one up for you.

A pink lemonade mock up wouldn't be exact though... again I do quick ones using pre-existing rings and just adjust it for the shape.  I can make a pink halo out of white though so I can at least give a color idea, but not an exact one for you.

Would the sold ring R3728 work as a template for your photoshop?

For a single halo it might be doable.  It really isn't much like the style of the pink lemonades to do that though.

I also don't know how Flamboyant's heart will match up shape wise. ie how broad the heart is or how big the cleft is.  There are a lot more issues with hearts to work around even compared to cut corners of radiants.  Also the lack of hearts out there make it even more difficult to find the right stuff.

When I do mock ups for CDIers I only use DBL photos to make it more legit looking.  I also think that is what is right to o here.

to do a double halo means I either have to find two similar shaped heart halo rings with nearly same type of halo but only a difference in the size of the center stone or I have to stretch the outer halo which means strange distortions or the outer halo being larger in stone size to make it work.  Either is not very good IMO.  Or to build a larger halo from scratch with just a copy of the halo stones would take me forever to do.

I don't want to say I won't try, but please understand if I can't meet this challenge well.  I do love a good one though but my husband even just said "yeah no... good luck" when I told him Wink  I will try for at least a pink lemonade for you Smiley

Apart from the photoshop challenges - which are there - I'd be concerned with another thing: what makes a heart is cleavage. By having a double halo in that style, cleavage disappears (the stones are too large to follow the contours, or the ring becomes very bulky). JMHO.

Thanks clgwli, of course I understand and you are very nice to try  sultan OMC, I hear ya. If this heart belonged to you, what would you pick? (has to be a ring)

Well, let me begin with a confession: I don't particularly love hearts because of their inherent asymmetry. But I love making life difficult for David and the guys in the factory. So, here's a couple of out-of-the-beaten-path ideas...

The hidden heart: imagine replacing the conch pearl with the heart (and possibly using different colours/gems than peridot and amethyst). This is a classic Rene Boivin ring from the late 1950s.

Toi et Moi. Relatively expensive because it requires finding a matching heart in another colour (and the sky's the limit). Can also do it with bezel and plain metal, or one half with plain and one half paved, or different colour pave...

The modernist modernised: place the round in the centre, and use different size baguettes to hold it up in a radial design (the centre in this particular ring is about 0.70 ct, so slightly smaller than your heart). This is a typical late 1920s design.

Anything you like?

Hi Flamboyant and congrats on your new yellow heart.  She is a beauty!  I have a yellow heart in a halo pendant with a yellow bezel.  I think bezels do great things for heart shapes!  Well, when they are done well......which David's will be!

Here's a pic:

Looking forward to seeing what you decide.  If in doubt, let David know what you are thinking and he'll do a great job decided stone sizes for your halo.
Just quoting this to say if I had a heart this is what I would do with it.  Halo or not, I would bezel the beauty.  Why?  Absolutely accentuates the cleft of the heart.

Like OMC said I worry about a double halo removing the most important part of the heart... the cleft.  Once you lose that you wind up with a totally different look.

Here's a pendant with two rows of diamonds that I think would work as a ring.  Keeps the lovely heart shape and adds size

Hi OMC, of the ones you posted I like the bypass ring. I'd love a simple bypass ring but I can't get another heart  Embarrassed , too pricey.

Hi clgwli, I agree a bezel would look very nice and accentuate the shape. I'll make sure I tell David I want it bezeled rather than with prongs. I am also seeing your and OMC's points about double halos. I didn't realize hearts are that tricky a shape but it makes sense... I think a single halo would work best. Well... I think my mind is almost made up, I shall go with a pink lemonade ring. I just hope the finger coverage ends up being nice.  I think the halo will add about 2 mm to my heart so it will be approx 7mm x 8mm  Smiley clwgli, don't bother photoshopping a double halo please.

I am excited  Cheesy

Well, you can always do the following: yellow heart bezeled in YG on white pave, and white pave in a heart shape set in WG/platinum with a "fake bezel edge" in WG/platinum on yellow gold (satin or polished). Cost issue partly resolved; there's more work, but not the $2500-3000 of another large heart and the difficulty in finding a matching shape.

Well it isn't bezled, but this even took me a long time to get this and it isn't perfect.  I wound up having to use R3981 ring to do it.

I suppose if David has a chance he could measure the size of the halos and see how much more they add.  I'd imagine 2-3mm on either side.  Even my double bezel adds 1.5mm on either side and I don't have diamonds in it, so I can't imagine the halo adding less than that.

It hopefully should be fairly accurate size wise.  The pear was only a teeny big shorter than your heart is.  Obviously the factory will pick stones that fit the shape wonderfully so it could vary a little maybe???  I dunno but that at least should be a decent rough idea.

Glad you liked it.  I couldn't get the bottom prong right, but the rest was decent.  I gave up trying to pink up some white heart halos and decided to go with this.  Worked much better Wink
