Hi guys,

I was so excited to receive my new yellow heart from DBL. It is R3798, here is the webpage

Although I don't have the funds to set it immediately, I am looking for ideas Smiley

I like the fact that instead of usual halo melee it has bigger, individually prong-set round brilliants around it. Not only does it look different but it also looks substantial (see hand shot) Cheesy

Bear in mind that this blue pear is .24 and my heart is .85 so even though pears face up large I think mine would look nice-sized...

I was thinking of setting my heart in 18k yellow gold with white (colorless) round brilliant diamonds around it... and a plain shank just like in the photo. What do you think? Ideas please, thank you  Smiley

This way I can ask David to price out the total cost for me and save up to have it made  Cheesy

Hi Flamboyant!  

What a beautiful heart. It's going to look awesome made up.

I purchased this DBL heart ring for my daughter and she is in love with it. I gave it to her for her sweet 16 birthday.

At the risk of giving David agita (partly because this ring was difficult to execute)....I really love this setting. It is channel set with tapered baguettes. It is beautiful in person.

Personally, I think that halos take away from the shape of the heart but that's my opinion. Your heart has great scale to it...you should make sure that what ever you do it plays up this feature. David has a great eye...he won't steer you wrong.

Ah, but are you counting in the ruff around Valentina?  I would think that would add 4mm or more to both her height and width, depending on the size of round you use to surround her.  I'm thinkin' 9.68 x 10.19 x 3.32 mm overall size is pretty, well, sizable.

I admit I am having a hard time picturing that type of halo with the heart.  I would be worried to lose the shape of the stone, but I love your heart a lot and honestly if David says they can do it, then I would go for it.  I just am having trouble picturing how the diamonds would sit in the cleft of the heart. doesn't mean this is bad or anything LOL just I can't see it in my head.

I'm so into bezels now so I always suggest that Wink mostly because I think they really can help accentuate the shape of a diamond.

Honestly I am not sure what I would do with the heart... it's my son's favorite shape and I have an issue picturing the best options for the shape.  I probably wouldn't go quite as large as the diamonds in the marquise, but larger than your typical 1pointish halo.  Maybe add a 2 or 3 pointer?  It wouldn't look like a line of diamonds but it still might work around the heart well?  I am not sure.

So the next question... what was your 2nd purchase?  Or did I miss it in one of the threads?

I love your heart and honestly I've considered a heart shape,too as I LOVE hearts!!  And I also like the setting you're talking about, but (and this is a big but)- I just don't like them together.
I don't see any way to keep the shape of the heart with that type of halo,IMO.
  Hearts can be notoriously difficult to set. I would use a more traditional halo (Hal 1 or similar) and just use larger melee, but that's just me.
I'm sure if David thinks it can be done- it will work great- I'll be interested in seeing his opinion.

Oh, I admit, I covet your pink sapphire ring.  It looks sooo elegant on. there's a lot you can do with the heart. Do a search on DBL for hearts and see if anything strikes your fancy. Or, perhaps you can sketch what you'd like and have the Uber factory make it.  What an apropo name for your yellow baby.

Eeks! I got an error message saying upload folder is full! Anyway, I wanted to attach a photo of an emerald ring I found. It's a heart shaped 1 carat simulated emerald and surrounded by .07 diamonds. I can see they have strategically placed a diamond at the cleft and then all around. Webmistress, can you help me?

clwgli: I was wondering if I should bezel my heart and then surround her with the rbs... maybe that would enhance her shape? Also, my 2nd purchase was earrings but I'm not telling which ones! I will have my hubby take photos today in sunshine so I can post them  Wink Hehehe I am a tease!  Grin

Hi Flamboyant and congrats on your new yellow heart.  She is a beauty!  I have a yellow heart in a halo pendant with a yellow bezel.  I think bezels do great things for heart shapes!  Well, when they are done well......which David's will be!

I know you mentioned a setting with larger melee to make for greater finger coverage, but I thought I'd throw another idea out to you too.  This is my heart pendant-I have always toyed with the idea of having it made into a ring.  The center diamond has similar dimensions to your stone and with the pillowy pave it has great finger coverage sitting on my size 7 finger.

Good luck with the final decision, it will be lovely no matter how you decide to set it!
