Well, i got really excited that i finally figured out how to get pics from my camera to my computer, and i took a bunch of pics of my collection.  i know my favorite part of the forum is seeing new diamonds/jewelry david puts up, but also all the pics everyone else here posts.
so i hope you guys don't mind if i put some pics up, i took a bunch, so please tell me if i've gone too far and am starting to bore people.
this is my engagement ring:

my wedding band which i rarely wear 'cause i like the engagement ring solo better, i think the center stone looks bigger without the extra band.

both rings are platinum, knife edged pave. the center stone is a .81 E VS1 EX cut with medium blue fluorescence which is my favorite part.  sometimes in the sunlight it'll glow blue.

this is my paternal grandmother's jelly opal ring.  my father is japanese, but they moved to mexico city when he was 15 and lived there for around 10 years or so, she collected a bunch of opal jewelry and i inherited a few really nice pieces.
this is my all time favorite ring, it's 18 k white gold, and the 6 side diamonds are so brilliant.  it's probably from the late '60's, early '70's. she was a very small woman and it only fits on my pinky, so i never wear it out of fear of bumping it on something. opals are so fragile.

please ignore my badly painted nails.
have never found any opals i really like in jewelry stores, i think they're so fragile most jewelers just don't like them. i have no idea how much this opal is worth, or how rare it really is, but my dad thinks it's worth a good amount.  i've had other jewelers tell me opals aren't worth much though, so i dunno.

i think this is from the 1970's, the textured swooping gold looks very 70's to me. it's got two neat little balls of gold sort of like flowers.

the last of grandma's opal ring.  this is 18kyg, a mexican fire opal, so pretty.  the gold ropes around the opal are so cool.

though not strictly jewelry, i love this guy so much.  he is made up of fire opals, jelly opals and onyx. i guess grandma got him when she lived in mexico, turtles and frogs are some of my favorite creatures.  Smiley

this broach probably goes with the second opal ring since it's gold is scored the same way. it doesnt have a pin though, so i wear it like a pendant.

another broach, one of my favorites since i think it goes with my favorite ring. the metal isn't marked with anything, so i have no idea what it is.  i asked a jeweler once that i trusted, and he coudln't tell me. it's not silver, it might be white gold or could be platinum, i dunno. i love it.

this pendant needs desperately to be shined, but i can't find my silver polishing cloths anywhere! grr. i get compliments whenever i wear this, i love how the opal is interspersed with the rock, it looks like a planet to me.  i love how opal fires so much color in sunlight, it can blind you!

this is another one that i should have polished before i took the picture. she's so pretty when the silver is shiny, but the humidity or somethign really tarnishes my silver. the mexican fire opal looks like the sun. Cheesy or maybe mars.

i guess that's it for my opals. moving on...
this was my grandmother's as well.  if you see anything that looks very nice or expensive, it was hers.
a tiny little emerald in white gold, most people think there are pave diamonds in this, but actually thats just some very talented jeweler who made the gold sparkle. when i took it to a jeweler to get sized his intake form said it was an emerald and diamond ring.  ha! oh yeah, he also was snooty and when he sized it used gold that was slightly different colored, and the ring was no longer a perfect circle.  i didn't notice til later and never mentioned it to him.  grrr.

keeping in the green family, this was a ring my mom found at an antique store, very dull and with a red glass 'stone' in it, i'm sure she got a good deal on it, i was pretty young and don't remember the details, but i remember going to a gem store with her and her picking out this great peridot.  sometimes the stone sparkles so much i swear i'm looking at a green diamond.  Smiley  i wish!  some day...some day.
