Dunno. I've been buying stuff for 15 years (and counting), and am still a looooong way away from "one of everything" - but a lot closer to an undiversified asset portfolio. Grin

Bad at making diamond purchase decisions...just get one of everything!    Buyers remorse solved!   devildance

Yup! Job done!  Grin

OMC, your undiversified portfolio is glorious! I wouldn't swap it for all the tax efficient investment funds in the world... laugh

Me, neither, Miz M!  I can't see any of OMC's collection losing value over time, but think I'd have a hard time divesting in my senior years! 1087

So sorry to hear you have a bit longer to wait!  I'd be running around like a headless chicken after this prolonged anticipation, no doubt!

It's en route now....

Does anyone other than my DH think I should stop with the obsessive Fed Ex tracking already? Grin

Bummer. I was there last week; I could have picked it up and dropped it into your house from the plane...

OMC, you're always up for a challenge, that's what I love about you!

You know what though, my own mother is currently walking distance from the DBL office (it's a long walk, but it takes you past Saks and Harry Winston's, so not exactly a hardship). She didn't want the 'hassle' of picking it up and carrying it home for me though.

In other words, you like me better than my mother does. If it wasn't so ridiculous, I'd be upset! Roll Eyes

Ah a mother's love... no really think of it this way though.  When is your mother due back?  It would probably tak ethe ring longer to get to you via her than FedEx.

I'm notoriously bad for doing tracking items.  You should've seen me when I was tracking a computer part that I desperately wanted.  I'm horrible.

Fortunately items from David aren't so exciting to track.  It does most of the traveling while I am asleep so when I get up it's already out for delivery here.

Well, it still has to clear Customs even once it lands, so it won't be pics for a while yet. That said, I have an estimated delivery time of 6pm tomorrow...

Fedex is pretty quick through customs. They clear immediately and bill you later (at least, that's what they do in Switzerland and Italy).

They might not do that for me - we got into a spat last time.  Wink

My address is a very common one - there is a house with the same name as mine in probably a thousand towns and villages in the UK. As they refuse to put the post code on letters, letters they address to me will have roughly a 1 in 1000 chance of arriving here. This will result in something of a squabble (which I will win) and some lingering resentments.

I doubt their corporate memory is that good - otherwise the next letter would make it to you faster... or not at all! Wink

I threatened to take them to court (and served an Initial Writ to that effect). £20 says they remember...

Although, breaking news just in.... it looks to have cleared Customs in the last 10 minutes!  Grin

I hope you're all enjoying the real time updates (my family are not). Wink

I'm loving it - especially since I still haven't heard that my gizmos are really back from the factory or even en route.  Guess it's time to call DBL.

FFS. It's in a Fed-ex depot less than 20 miles from my house. I phoned to ask what time they'd deliver today, and got  "Ah, you're out in X village? Hmmm. Wednesday ok, love?"

No. It ******g well isn't. I'm driving to the depot to get it now - barring disaster, should have it on my hand in under an hour.

I now see why stuff takes so long to come from the US to the UK. It arrived from New York at the speed of light, then the Scottish approach to customer service kicked in. The guiding principle here is manana. Or possibly some other word that conveys less urgency....  Roll Eyes

Ah.  Well.  I guess they have never accosted a sparkly-obsessive being denied access to her latest sparkly fix.  I'll say a prayer or two on their behalf.   angel

Looking forward to pics Jen!

Ok. I'm wearing it. DH is out on some building site doing whatever it is that architects do on building sites, but he has the freaking camera with him.  Roll Eyes Pics asap.

So, I drove the the Fed-ex depot in an industrial estate on the edge of nowhere and the guys there are awesome. Opera buffs, so we had a long discussion about the aria they were playing through the (incredible) sound system. You could hear it for miles around. Did you know that the one of the arias in the Magic Flute was written by Mozart for his sister in law, who was the only soprano of her day to be able to hit the highest notes in it? Well, you do now... and all the while, I'm just waiting for my PACKAGE already!!!  Grin

Anyway, after an interminable search (because when you get down to it, one fed ex box looks much like another, and the high tec tracking arrangements seem to end at this depot door, it was located and handed over.

I sprinted to my car, and to the accompaniment of the Slaves Chorus from Nabucco (one of my favourites, so that was nice).  I got my first glimpse of The Ring.

Now, keep in mind that I chose it in person. I've tried it on, worn it, photographed it on my own hand, so there shouldn't have been any surprises in that box. Well, you know how when you remember things, they're often bigger and better in your mind, and when you see them again, they're sadly disappointing and you thought they were just a bit nicer?

That 100% does not apply in this case  Wink I'd forgotten just how truly beautiful this ring is. It has a new shank since I last saw it, and it's so beautifully done, so finely made. OMG. Even DH likes it. (Picky? I'll say!) I honestly did not remember this ring as being quite so fine. It's the perfect size on my hand, it's the most beautiful colour of yellow for my skin tone, it's exquisitely put together and the new shank is just a little more delicate than the old one, from what I recall.

It was also a lot of fun to open the boxes, the DBL shopping bag, the white card ring box then the DBL ring box - nice work David and Trinkette on the packaging. It's nice, it's special, it does the job beautifully.

Anyway, you're getting all this verbage as a temporary placeholder for photos. I'll get onto them asap (although there is NO sun here today).

If you're reading this and thinking (like I did for all those years) that you don't need a yellow diamond from DBL, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong, quite wrong.  Wink

Jen

Oh, and one more thing  .. David, you rock!
