WOW!!!!  That ruby is HUGE!   Absolutely gorgeous.    Years ago there was a competition run by Singapore Airlines and the prize was a ruby not unlike this and I am still crying at night because I didnīt win.....

Thanks so much, everyone...sorry for being MIA. Tomorrow's my last day in the office hence lots to do.

We're heading off for a 2-week vacation in China. We're flying into Chengdu and plan to visit Jiuzhaigou again, this time in winter before we move on to Chongqing for our 4 day cruise down the 3 Gorges and then we fly to Shanghai before we go home in time for Christmas. We decided to visit China again since our holiday next year will likely be in the US or around there.

Anyway...about the ruby, it's a 5-carat, untreated "pigeon blood" from my jeweller, the princess cut diamonds were recycled from earrings that I don't wear anymore. Originally, I was planning to have a halo round the ruby but decided that it would too much of an overkill since the ruby is fairly large.

Here's another shot of the ruby in the sun...
