the MPD used to be mine!!!  she is fan-freakin-tastic and still in my avatar!!!  the color change on it is super awesome!  The only reason i ever let her go back to d was because i felt weird wearing 2 legacy halos and the light blue sapphire appeared which gave me something to trade her in for ....  i have plenty of awesome pics if you want me to post them!!!

The MPD arrived about 30 minutes ago.  I was shocked  omg when I opened the ring box.  She is PINK, really, really pink; and as expected, blends right into my skin.  If it were not for the intense sparkle of the diamonds, she may not even be noticed.

But this center diamond is insane.  In the sun she looks yellow, under incandescent and fluorescent lighting she's a very pretty light green , under halogen lights she's a dark greenish brown.  Due to her multiple personalities, I am naming her Eve, after the book The Seven Faces of Eve.

Sanchica, thanks for trading her in;  this one purchase has given me a chance to try the pink gold and the legacy halo, both of which I had significant doubts.  I'll wear her for a couple days and see if we bond.  Eve is quite different from anything else I own.

Sparkly, I really like it!  I think we're going to start seeing more pink halos around the forum and on the site.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the compliments.

Eve IS a beautiful ring, 4 but look at how she fades right into my skin; nothing special about that. Sad

I went to dinner with two girlfriends Friday night; neither noticed my ring.  Sunday, I went to breakfast with three other girlfriends and no one noticed the ring.   Eventhough these ladies know that I am a jewelry junkie and check out my jewelry on a regular basis, not a single one noticed this ring.  And the breakfast group was together from 10 AM until 3:00PM!  During both occasions, I wore it on my right hand, I am right handed, and I 'talk with my hands'.  I even wore pink gold earrings and a pink gold heart with diamonds on a pink gold chain.  So how could Eve not be noticed?  Huh?

Beautiful Eve is is returning to the folds of DBL.  I appreciate the opportunity to see the pink gold and DBL's fantastic quality work.  I do plan to own a halo, but it will be white gold.

If I buy a ring with larger stones like Trinkette's Glarkler that would cover the top of my finger and have two browns on the side, then I would consider using pink gold.  I will use pink gold for the heads to set the browns I just purchased, but the bail on the pendant and the shank of the ring will be white gold.

Thanks for everyone's input; you certainly gave me plenty to think about. Thanx

Don't worry; somebody will.  It's just a preference issue as to whether you like the metal and the stone to stand out, or just the stone.  Myself, I would prefer the metal to take a back seat.  Nothing wrong with either preference!  After all, we don't all want to wear the same style of ring.  Variety is good!

Now I will wait patiently for your set of browns to leave the factory...

Sparkly-OCD, I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you and that your expectations regarding your friends' reactions were not met. But, it does sound like most of the guesswork is gone, and that you're closer now to KNOWING what combination works best for you.  Hopefully, next time will be a slam-dunk!

Actually, this was a very positive experience.
My friends' reactions confirmed that pink gold is not the best choice for me.
I had the opportunity to inspect the  th_AWA123112 exacting and precision setting of DBL jewelers.
I had the opportunity to wear the Legacy Halo and to determine if that style worked for me.
I had fun looking at a multiple personality diamond; wish I could have a diamond that was the light/medium green seen under fluorescent lighting.  I wish I could convince David to pull the diamond and reset it into a pink bezel white gold halo. 4

The two downside issues are returning a new sparkly  Cry  and going to UPS.  Giving strangers a valuable item gives me the hee-bee-jeebies. xyxnervous

Hi All!

This was actually posted originally in another topic, but since it took on  a life of it's own, I created a new thread for it.

I appreciate everything you said Sparkly!
In terms of returning things to us there's few methods.
It's even possible for UPS to pick up the box, in some cases.

Generally, it's not a problem, since UPS has so many offices.
It is important to make sure you go to a real UPS store- as opposed to a "Shipping Store" or a kiosk.

The UPS site shows all the locations.
On this page, at the bottom are five check boxes.
Select only the first two on the left side, and put in your zip code.

I know how you feel OCD.  I had a pink gold ring and it literally blended totally into my skin.  It was like I wasn't even wearing anything.  My partner at work put it on and it looked like $1Million bucks.

  Dancing_biggrin Surprise!   Dancing_biggrin Surprise!  Dancing_biggrin

I had my nails done today in my favorite shade of red.  The polish on my nails attracts attention to my hands AND makes EVE quite obvious.  She is sparkling like crazy, and I cannot stop looking at her!

So, Sanchica, she will have a good home; Eve is not returning to DBL.

I have a pink sapphire that looks awful with my polish, but my light pink and dark pink tourmaline rings look great.  However, I never thought nail polish would make a difference with Eve.  One just never knows...... Huh?

Wow, that's quite some change of heart!  Is it the whole ring that's obvious now, or just the center?

I've really got to get my nails done!   Grin

Here you are.  Somehow the contrast makes the ring become dimensional; the halo and diamond become very obvious.

The polish looks a lot more orangy in the sunlight.

I think the last two shots best represent what I see.  Weird. yes.

David, I have much greater appreciation for your photos. Smiley

Thanks WM.

The real reason that I still have Eve is because of UPS.  I checked with 4 UPS Stores requesting the boxes that David uses to ship our jewelry; no luck.  So, I went to the UPS Distribution Center thinking certainly they would have everything I needed.  WRONG!  And they wanted to charge me $95.67 to ship the ring overnight and deliver by 4:30PM.

I returned home with the sealed boxes, 12" X 12" X12", and emailed David.

I opened the boxes and tried on the ring one more time..... wow ....... I was floored.  What did I not like about this ring?!?!  Huh?

Some may say,"Well, I wouldn't want a ring that I could only wear when my nails are polished."  Remember, I am a collector; I also have a ring that I can only wear with natural nails or clear polish.  To each their own. Smiley

I think it's just another multiple personality aspect of the diamond... with or without nail polish Grin

To prevent anyone else reading this from having such problems- here's some tips.
1) Use a new UPS shipping box. NEVER re-use a box as tampering won;t be evident if you re-seal the package. NEVER use a 1 foot square box to ship a piece of jewelry.

2) NEVER go anywhere BUT a "UPS CUSTOMER CENTER" if you are going to buy insurance to send something of value. A "UPS STORE" oddly enough, is not owned by UPS- they don't have to give you a box- and they can charge anything they want for high value insurance
To find the closest "UPS CUSTOMER CENTER" go to this page and uncheck all the boxes except, "UPS CUSTOMER CENTER".
Put your zip code in, and you'll have the closest location. The "UPS CUSTOMER CENTER" will provide the proper shipping boxes ( you can use a "Medium") and they abide by UPS high value insurance rates ( .06 per $10 value....$10k insurance cost $60)

A $2500 shipment should cost about $30.

If you don;t follow these guidelines- as we see- a $30 shipment cost can easily turn into a $100 shipment cost...

Please call us before attmepting to ship a package to us- we'll be more than happy to assist!

 david

You forgot to tell everyone not to wrap the ring box up in 10 bags with sticky closures!  The last time I shipped something to David, he said, "Next time let's talk about how you ship a ring."   stop  I think he almost stabbed himself three times trying to get through all of the tape and wrapping.  I too get really nervous about shipping valuable items and I got really carried away . . .  Grin

Sorry David!
