:camera:My Nikon is laughing at me!
Is there anyone who can help me with taking pix of my ringus 4 dinguses?  my little old coolpix is behaving badly and I don't know how to bring him in line. director

I can't:  a) get a good close up, b) get any sort of lighting consistency, and c) figure out how to position the little buggers so ya'll can help me with picking a new 3 stone combo for my DH's Mom's old setting.   BangHead

Camera is a Nikon 4800 coolpix, and I swear my 14 yr old stepdaughter can do a better job with her stinking cell phone! giveup

Does it have a macro mode (usually little "flower" icon)? If so, are you using it?

That will help with the close-up focus. In terms of lighting, building a "white tent" out of paper sheets and using a couple of 150W or higher wattage bulbs (table lamps) on either side of the 'tent' will help.

Position - well - it depends on the object. I take between 10 and 25 images to keep 2 or 3...

OMC - you rock!

Trust a guy to know electronic toys!  Yes it has a little flower Icon in the menu  toothy4 , and I'll try the white box lighting and background.  maybe those will help.

I'm getting horrid flashback from the  4 2-k-J, so you can't actually see the diamond, just the sapphires  photo   ,and not enough white light for the opals to show anything like their real colors (glorious)

I'll try some more shots before dark, this time.  Maybe it will help!

If you are getting overexposed shots using flash, cut a piece of white cardboard (a strip of business card will work perfectly) and use it in front of the flash to diffuse the light. I posted a picture of it on another thread, but I can't find it!
