webmistress  I noticed that a few of my posts and PMs from earlier today are missing...  It looks like other posts from others are missing too.  Just thought I would let you know Smiley

Hi Everybody,
I've been quite upset over the past few days regarding the speed of CDI ( or lack thereof)-

We had the hosting company put us on a better server- it seems faster already.
We're looking into putting the site on a dedicated server- for even faster service!

it may be possible to recover what was lost today- but doing so will require us to close the forum for a little while.
I am hesitant to do it- and would rather accept the fact we lost a few posts and move on...what do you guys think?

Most important- we're NOT banning anybody ( yet, today..hehehe)
SEROIUSLY!!!
We've not banned anyone, or removed any posts on purpose today.........

I am fine with you leaving it as is David.

I didn't take it personal I just wanted to make sure that there weren't any technical problems.  Thanks for letting us know  Cheesy

I say that if it in the long run, shutting down the forum for a bit would speed things up (and providing you with worry free moments when the site isn't up to par), then it would be worth shutting down the forum for a day or how ever many hours it takes (assuming less than 12 as I need my fix! ) LOL

Honestly? If it's not going to get much better (which it HAS), then I say leave it as is...

Eh, lost posts are normal for server stuff.  I'm just glad it's not the whole forum (yes, it happens on occasion!).

Ditto what KK said David--leaving it as is, that is.  My only question is that I sent some PM's today--are they lost? Should I re-send them?

If one had to do with riddles, you'd better resend it. Grin

lol...  if they got the email, they have a copy of the PM...  otherwise re-sending it would be the safe choice...

Ronda, you're not at all paranoid.
It's been an "interesting" time- having our little forum cause such a conversation "over there"

I want to state unequivocally, that this forum will be operated in as neutral and tranparent a manner as possible
We may have to change or remove something from time to time. But we will be very hesitant to do so- preferring to maintain the forum's open nature.
Banning is really a last resort. PM'ing nasty letters to members is one reason for banning.
Spamming, of course is another.
Difference of opinion is not a cause for banning- nor is a person buying wherever they want- or posting wherever they want.

Have fun everybody!!!!
Thanks........

Sorry I missed this, you guys.

Two things. I was communicating with tech support today over part of DBL website (it was gone for a while) and making sure the switch to a new spit and fire server went well. In so doing some posts and pms were lost. Just a glitch and not a full scale hurricane.

I did not check in after that because I had root canal yesterday plus other dental torture. This antibiotic I'm on for the root canal is kicking my tail. I have the energy of a slug. So I'm sorry to have been slack.

No worries WM!  I just wanted you to know in case it was something that you didn't know about.

I sure hope that you get to feeling better.  I HATE the dentist!

Oh WM!  Yuck!  Feel better soon!

On the positive side of all this, I never was able to get notice on email of new replies to threads or of new PMs, and suddenly they seem to be streaming in.  We'll see if it keeps up!

Thanks KK. The old server has been sort of slow and haphazard with some outages and we had to move it. So I wasn't paying attention to the forum posts just the fact whether it was there or not, how fast it was moving and then part of DBL disappeared so I had to scramble about and find out why. If it's going to happen, this was the month for it. I was in MACRO mode.

I do feel better today. I bit a piece off my tongue so that's what is/was really hurting.  And I have to say hating the dentist is killing the messenger. I have to think where I'd be today without my dentist and peridontist and I can tell you I'd be one ugly, toothless hag.

By the way, my dentist is a diamond lover and has a yellow diamond engagement ring.

Sounds like the dentist to have.   But ouch!  You are still aloud to hate dental work!   I am glad to hear you are feeling better WM.    Thanks for keeping us posted.   It does seem like I am having an "insurgence" of email replies to threads that I have posted to and sometimes never email notifications.
