Hi all!

So, because the Moose and I pushed our wedding plans forward to an unspecified date in 2012, we have a little time to come up with ideas (and save $$ for) a couple of really nice wedding bands.  He wants something totally simple, so I'm here to get ideas for MINE, muahahahaha Smiley

My ER is a .57 Deep Fancy Brownish Yellow Radiant Cut (R3594) set in a 14KWG Hal-1, prong-set, with the milgrain option. ((Can someone tell me how to get my pic of "Goldie Rocks" onto my avatar here?)) I pink puffy heart love it.  I personally love the "surprise" diamond (James doesn't care for them in general, but he's a smart boy and got me what *I* wanted), because even though the casual observer can't see it, I can, and I look at it all the time!  One of the things I love best about my ring is how "finished" it looks.

In any case, I'm not sure what putting a band next to it would do to the gallery (as far as wear-and-tear is concerned), and it would certainly block my view of the finished underside of the ring.  Does anyone have a photo of the HAL-1 matching wedding band, preferably up next to their ER?  I'm also looking at SO3653, but thinking it might look really cool with alternating white and yellow diamonds instead of just fancy intense yellows.  I'm also wondering how it might look in white vs yellow gold?  I prefer white metal, and I think the stones are deep enough in color to not necessarily need the "boost" of the yellow gold setting?  Or would the two different colors of yellow diamond clash?  (On a totally unrelated note, does "anal-retentive" have a hyphen? LOL)

Then there's the option of going with a totally different ring, worn separately from the ER.  James loves the three-stone 1.5-ct Asscher, as do I, but I also like to eat, and I'm not sure we can do both Wink

Ideas, anyone?  Outside-the-box stuff is welcome, too!

Easy way to get a picture as your avatar:

1. Upload the picture to some website. Facebook, Picasa, Photobucket, what have you.
2. Copy the URL of the picture (something like http //www.somewhere.something/blahblah/yourpic.jpg)
3. Go to the CDI forum home, and at the bottom of the page click on your name under "Users Online", or click on your name on any of your posts to go to the "Your Profile" page.
4. From the boxes on the left, choose "Forum Profile Information"
5. Click on "I have my own pic:"
6. Paste the URL you copied in step 2 in the box next to the "I have my own pic:" radio button
7. Click on "Change Profile" at the bottom of the page

Done!

Easier way:

Send the pic to a moderator, and they can upload it for you!

Duct tape sticks better, but Velcro gives that "rrRRIP" sound as warning if toddler tries to make a break for it Wink

BTW, said sniffly toddler *loves* the DBL site..she says "oooOOOooohh" at all the sparklies- it's so cute!

But she is not much help picking out a nifty wedding band..

Deb, I wear mine with a shared prong 2cttw eternity band, similar to the one shown in the bottom left corner here:
http://rockdiamond.c...inganniversary-bands

The page is being updated, but if you like the look, email me or David. Wink If you don't, I won't be offended hehe.

Here it is with just a patterned metal band:

I really like this look and I would take a quick look at this if it appeals to you, as a starting point:
http://rockdiamond.c...te-gold-wedding-band

A plain metal band is always lovely with a halo - it lets the e-ring take the starring role and of course it's absolutely classic.

Last thought - a curved band with white melee, to hug the curve of the halo. You cannot go wrong with this combination!

How exciting, to be picking out your wedding band!

Jen, you're the best!  So thoughtful of you to take pics with a patterned, no-stone band, too- I do like the look.

BUT, if I'm to be honest, I think I really want bling on my wedding band, LOL. And I'm one of those [horrible, fussy, exacting Virgo] types that has to have everything Just So.  This way, except a little THAT way.  By way of example, my winter coat has both black and brown in it, so that my purse and boots always match it. I've gone through four manicurists until I finally found one that understands what I mean by "squoval". And the center stone on my ER is a radiant, but I requested that the Hal-1 setting have curved corners like the ones made for cushion cuts.

((I am only a fussbudget on my own account, honest! And I'm nice about it.))

So basically, I would love a wedding band that I can wear with my ER if I choose, but that stands alone nicely, too, without my hand (size 6.75-7) dwarfing it.  For that reason, I tend not to like the dainty microwave bands that are 1-1.5mm (although I adore them on other people that have slender fingers), or notched bands, since they look a little funny solo.

I think that is narrowing me down to three choices: shared prong (although the 2 ct. part will have to wait until I ditch this silly addiction to three squares a day, LOL), curved to hug the halo, or, my silly fantasy of recreating an antique "forget me not" band, and having DBL put teeny-beeny yellow diamonds in the center of each flower.  ::sigh::  Something old, something new, right?

Apologies for the length of this post!  What I am wondering is, would a fancy yellow (alternating with white) diamond clash, color-wise, with my Deep-Brownish-Yellow ER? Should I see if DBL could use that color of melee stone instead?

Also, what sort of band would set off a white jacket with very long sleeves that ties in the back?? Wink

You messin' with our heads, Debangel?  you get your dress and jacket picked out without so much as a sample shot in the weddings folder? a082  That's very Bad Qat!   We wanna see what you chose!

No input on the bands.  I wear one of those 1.5 microwave bands.  LOL  Still, have you considered a band that has diamonds halfway around rather than all the way around, like Jen's eternity ring?

ROFL I love my MacBook Air, but auto-correct can kiss my big pale you-know-what...microwave??  Micro.  Pave.  Stoopid laptop better learn those words, since it's going to see them A LOT Wink  I'm really in love with those delicate bands, except they make my fingers look like sofa cushions Wink

I was definitely thinking of a band with stones that went only partway around, to help the budget, although strangely enough James would get me an eternity band in a heartbeat.  I just don't want to *wait* an eternity Smiley

You did get my straightjacket joke, right?? Long sleeves, ties in the back?  LOL It's just as well that I am not trying on wedding dresses while attempting to kitchen-test recipes for a cookbook.  Anyone wanna volunteer to fly here and get fed??

Personally I like the idea  of either a matched curve band (do it in the same style if possible) or the floral band.

I would love to help taste the food!  Can I bring my husband and son too? Wink

When I first started working, I worked in a huge old psychiatric hospital in Glasgow. I can therefore confirm from observation and experience that when your sleeves tie behind your back, you need a couple of carats in a shared prong setting to really finish that look...  Grin

Just something to think about - are you likely to be sentimental about the ring you get married with? If you are, don't go for anything that can't be sized later. I know, I know, we always say this, but that's because it's....true!

If anyone can find matching brown melee (which could be very cool indeed, btw) it will be David. Just don't have it going all the way round. Just a thought - how about a 2cttw brown shared prong eternity style (with sizing bar)? I don't even know if it could realistically be done, but it could be lovely.

I love this ring. It is perfect for me. It's been traded up a couple of times and each time it was sold, I died a little bit... She was meant for me. Wink

I have the HAL-1 in a pear shape and I wear it with a forget me not band.  lol.  Great minds!  I did try one on with stones in it but it didn't make *me* as happy.  NOW let's first understand that I am as anal as they come and I wanted something that went with the ring, but did not match.  Because the stones in the flowers were not the same size as the stones in my melee I got twitchy.  Had they been, there would have been no contest.

So definitely try things on and determine what is most pleasing to your eye.  You might be suprised!  I love bling, but found that the pattern in the forget me not band alone really fools the eye into thinking it is bling.  Suprising but true!

I'm hoping this profile will let you see what I mean...if not I'll get a better shot.  It's been hard here with the dreary weather!

Firegypsy, that's hilarious- how in the world?? I've loved the forget-me-not bands for ages, long before I ever heard of the HAL-1. Thanks for postings pics- you're right, the flowers sort of do look like "bling"! A d you know, if I went with just a metal band, we could save up for a different sparkly later..muahahahaha Wink

That really is a beautiful set together!!!  I love it firegypsy!!

Debangel you could always look into the idea you had with maybe a diamond in the flower?  You could even try to make it meaningful and have only 3 flowers with diamonds to make it the "past, present and future" three stone idea too.

I like Squig's idea too. Floral band with diamonds on the flowers. Yes, yes, yes!
