I don't know we've ever discussed this here, but the process of cutting a radiant diamond includes a step that looks very much like an emerald cut if not an emerald cut.
Basically, the basis for the cut of most radiant cut styles is emerald cut. So inside most radiant cuts is an emerald cut.
There was a time a few years ago, when a cutter, who was a good buddy of mine, called me over to check out an emerald cut diamond he had cut.
It was 4 1/2 carats or so. And gorgeous.
When he asked me what color I thought it was. I had to say, Fancy Light Yellow. That's how I saw it.
"Perfect", he tells me, "that's just what I thought. Now if I recut to radiant, I'll probably get a four carat diamond and it will probably be fancy yellow"
No matter how much I love light yellow emerald cuts, it would be crazy to trade a 4 carat $50,000 diamond for a 4.7 carat $40,000 stone....
Anyway, here's a really nice looking emerald cut that really reminds me of an intense
