HI everyone!
There's a lot of conversation about accuracy in grading. My respect for GIA is a given- but in this case, I agree with the various EGL's that use the SI3 grade.

The reality of diamond grading is that it's subjective- there are certainly diamonds that are borderline SI1-SI2's. Or VVS1-VVS2.
There's a given range in any grade.
In the case of VVS1, it's a ridiculously  narrow range.
As we go down the clarity scale, the grades get wider.
By the time we come to the dividing line between Si2, and I1, the grading is as subjective as it gets.
I have a strong feeling that 90% of the I1 grades GIA issues are disputed- if at least in the mind of the submitter.

In terms of value - reality rears it's ugly head.
If a diamond has imperfections that really affect it's overall look, it's going to be harder to sell, and therefore, command a lower price.

In that regard, not all diamonds that surpass the amount of imperfection you could honestly call SI2 are worth the same.
This pair- photographed close up- shows imperfection.
But from a foot away, all you see is the great cut.

Those look pretty dang good! For earrings, I don't think having a high clarity is a must as NO ONE (I hope not at least) will be getting THAT close to your ear Smiley

I think they are phenomenal and would buy them in a heart beat if I wasn't saving for something else!!

One thing David - on the movie you note them as G-H, but elsewhere the listing says H-I.  Does not matter to me as far as their desirablility, but which is it?

These are lovely. Want to swap them for my VS2 rb studs?? They have more personality and a lot more sparkle than mine!

Gotta love the sparkle of RB.  I think that's another reason RB are quite popular other than the timeless bit...

I love these and can attest to the beauty of low grade earrings.  I have a set of 2.10 cttw I1's and the imperfections are very difficult to detect.  Up close, I can see the imperfections, but they are hidden very well under the prongs and all you can see from two feet away is a whole lot of sparkle!
