I think that you're being too conservative on the color...I'd say it looks more like a Y-Z.  A stunner... all the same.  Wink

It's so pretty! I like the curved lines in it too.

Hard to believe this is the same stone!

I prepared a side by side shot

In this one I've outlined how they share the basic table outline- which may be why Squg noticed a curviness
if you arrange eight lines of equal length in a circle, the illusions of a curve will exist.

Does it make any difference that the table is circular?  Almost looks like a double decker too.  TThe table shape is different than most radiants, isn't it?

Very cool how the colour looks more yellow now.  What would continued polishing do to the stone, shape and size?

I absolutely cannot believe that that is the same stone.  What an amazing difference!

What a dramatic change. I now completely understand when David talks about "coaxing" more color from a stone by recutting it.

I showed this to my husband and he absolutely could not believe that it was the same stone.  He was totally amazed at the new cut compared to the old.  Particularly the color.

OK- strange coincidence or what...
1) stone gets damaged, then recut- new photos by the way...

So anyway, just today, we sold the center stone out of this ring

And don't you know the 3.18ct fits......perfectly

Thanks G!

for those that are interested how this new cut has worked such magic with the color.....

If you look at the original cut, the light did not bounce around all that much- most went in, and bounced back out directly. You can actually see the facets on the bottom of the stone for this reason.
Now, the light bounces a few times inside the diamond before it exits- and the patterns of light coming out are totally different.
Those additional bounces are important as the light picks up the color along the way.

Try as you might, your eye simply can't focus on the pavilion facet ( the ones on the bottom) reflecting back up like you could before the recut.
Now, you're looking at reflections of reflections.

Wow, David! That wasn't the worst outcome!

I LOVE what the recut did for the colour. It's more yellow, but to my eye and on my monitor, it's also a prettier yellow. It looks crisper and more lemony.

It really is  a beautiful stone (and it wasn't too shabby before). If I was asked to choose between a cushion and a radiant, I'd usually say cushion, but in this case I think the radiant is far, far more beautiful than the cushion was.

Hey, everyone:  I saw that this diamond is now listed on DBL.  GIA gave it a FANCY YELLOW color  grade (up from S-T) and it went from VS2 to VVS2.  Wow!  It's amazing what a recut can do.

I really love the new cut or "makeover"!!!   DBL's makeover's are the best!  Now if he would only do people, too.....
