Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without

believe it or not, it was damaged during setting. We had finished a lovely platinum and 18kt yellow gold flower for it and the culet was broken during setting in a totally freak accident. Even though the diamond still weighed 3.55cts- not a single point was lost- it looked like a bomb had gone off inside. Sorry, I simply could not bear to take a picture.
That's so awful. I'd be afraid to look even if you did post a pic. Was this the victim? http://rockdiamond.c...ge-sparkle-gia-r4313If so, it's a shame -- that's a lovely stone. But hey -- if the little bit of weight loss means an upgrade in color, that's not a bad trade all in all. :-)

"I will put the diamond chain round your neck, and the circlet on your forehead, which it will become: for Nature...has stamped her patent of nobility on this brow, Jane; and I will clasp the bracelets on these fine wrists, and load these fairy-like fingers with rings." ~ Edward Rochester, Jane Eyre
