Remember the ring we made by accident.
Well, we're offering it for a buck soon on eBay in a no reserve auction..

Here's how it looks after we removed the center diamond....

I'll give you guys the heads up once I start the auction.....

Oh, it wasn't fugly! If you think that's fugly, you need to look at the UK ebay pages...

I could see that setting with a ruby in it. Very nice!

You know a ruby would be awesome in that setting. A blue sapphire would be, too.

I think I would dip the gold to make it white and the use a sapphire.  Is that possible?

Now I wouldn't call it "fugly"!  I agree w/ the ruby in the yellow gold and a blue sapphire if it were white!  What about a nice yellow sapphire in the yellow gold...how would that look?!!??  Actually, it looks like a great setting, just not for Casper.   Wink

Hi everybody,
we absolutely could rhodium plate this ring and make it look quite -- temporarily.
The problem is that after awhile the yellow would start to wear through and it would look quite crappy.
I hate to say this but I think it's a trick that some jewelers use from time to time.

The kicker would be if WE bought it and framed it and sent it to your office, David, as the official Fulgy mascot.  (In case you did not know we are searching for the perfect fugly mascot to frame and feature in your office.)

You might NEVER get rid of that setting!!! HA!  No I am kidding...we will let someone else have it.  Our Fugly mascot will have to be fuglier than that.

We need to buy the ring, and rotate it out as the 'door prize' for contests. Just trade it around...

GO Greeneyedbass GO!   I hope you win.  I am thinking that this setting is not that bad in person.  I am thinking we need a much fuglier piece as the fugly mascot...Does everyone agree?

Then I was thinking that we would have it framed in a presentation box and have David keep it at his office as sort of a reminder of what not to do. HA HA!   Not that I think he needs any help.  How much did the bird poop diamond go for?  Something like that would be awesome (and by awesome I mean awesomely fugly.)

All I can say is, this is exactly the kind of auction that got me started looking seriously at purchasing from DBL.   The honesty and humor made me feel very comfortable, which led me to the information on colored diamond grading and GIA reports.  It was the first time I felt I was learning from a jeweler, rather than being tricked somehow.  My dealings with Mark and David along the way, and OF COURSE the beautiful jewels, got me hooked, but I just love the willingness to put it all out there!!!  Bravo!!!

The more I look at it, the more I am drawn to it....  I think I will bid too.   What a fun auction!   I often LOL at many of David's Ebay listings.....and that was way before I knew him!  Gotta love that kinda honesty and humour!!!
