What to do with such an animal as a SCREAMING orange oval....

I do love a nice halo on an oval.....
White diamonds?
Then I remember a parcel we have had here in the "stash" for quite a while.
.10ct diamonds in pink, green, blue-ish even, orange, amber....

OK, that's too far out..
How about this

I don't see the brown in that, just a saturated orange.  Gorgeous.  That would be amazing in a E-W semi bezel tension style setting with open sides and a bit of high white mellee.

eta: well maybe a little brown now that it is against the box lining.  Hmmm, those little colours might make a cool rainbow eternity band.........size 6.25

I had originally thought of E-W....but this is a fairly tall stone- so it will be a wide ring E-W on an average size finger.

Here's another goody in today...
not orange but green and orange go together, right?

ITEM #: R4395
Platinum and 18Karat Yellow and Green Gold Diamond Ring

  WEIGHT: 2.01ct
  SHAPE: Cushion Cut
  COLOR: Fancy Greenish Yellow
  CLARITY: SI1
  MEASUREMENTS: 7.96 x 6.69 x 4.20 mm
  TOTAL DEPTH: 62.8%
  FLUORESCENCE: FAINT
  GIA COLOR REPORT #: 15076850

SIDE STONES:
  TOTAL WEIGHT: 0.67cts
  QUANTITY: 2
  SHAPE: Half Moon
  COLOR: Fancy Light Yellow
  CLARITY: VS

MOUNTING:
  Platinum and 18Karat Yellow Gold

We will ship the ring in your size.

Price: $19995

As long as we're at it how abut green and yellow.....

Can I just say that the 'too far out' layout is GORGEOUS! I'd wear that in a heartbeat, as a brooch or a pendant (or something that could be either...).

So pretty!

FWIW, I prefer the orange pear with the free-form "stash" over the more predictable halo design. I'd love to see a big cluster style ring... maybe you've got another "stash" to add to the mix...  Evil

+1. Actually, you could have it in a ring, too (thinking of some of A. Grima's 1970s constructions...)

Oh wow... a Grima-esque design would be SO COOL! I am seeing modern openwork design of textured and varied lengths of slivered yellow gold wire fused together with a spattering of colored stones scattered on top.

That asscher band is going to be spectacular!  That's one lucky lady to receive such a ring!

Probably a very good thing it's not me.  Bets on how long it would take me to flatten such a delicate setting?  I'm saying 2 months.  Any takers?

and a 3 carat orange ?? Holy Cow!  I'd like to hold her, unset, in my hand.  That's sort of like petting a live tiger, at least to me.  Definitely on my bucket list!

I just love threads like this. The band! And the orange pear. I REALLY love that color. Could it be a poor man's vivid? It looks like a vivid orange diamond.

You're being too hard on yourself.  Luckily, David has a wonderful guarantee.  I'm sure it's a learning experience for them was well:  seeing what works and what doesn't and ways to improve durability.

OMG, T!  I never knew!  Thank you for pointing us to Grima.  Were you thinking along the lines of this piece?

Really cool designer, even in gen II.
I have found the basis for the supernova  cuff I want made.  I think mister monster orange would be killer as the center!   http://grimajeweller...yID%3D2%26show%3D270

Ah2, I can not take credit. Although I've been lusting for a Grima piece for years, in this case, it was OMC who first mentioned Grima. See his post above...  Kiss

Big apologies, OMC!  I must have skipped over your post! tard

Previous thoughts still hold true, tho.  Phenomenal designers - both generations.

Actually, the lapis and turquoise brooch is one of my all-time favorite jewelry pieces.

For D's pear and pastel rounds, I had a design more like the style of the citrine and diamond brooch, below, in mind.
