OH, MAN!  What a great color!

Can they really finish this into a half moon?  If so, pair with another half moon, yellow or colorless,  microset to make one full round with a melee stripe down the center separating them.  Yin Yang so to speak, like those cookies that are half chocolate and half vanilla.  Cheesy

Cool look for a ring, pendant or tie tack.   glasses9

David, how much would a ring cost to do this matching idea?  Assuming that it's doable.

O-O-O-O!  The more I think about this yin yang design, the more I want it as a pendant to wear with my brown RB three stone ring.

WG with colorless melee and a colorless half moon to go with the brown.  Use Hal #2 for the halo and prong set. YES!

I could wear my brown earrings or my colorless earrings.  Cool!  glasses9

Let's see if that was going to be a one carat, then it's probably about 6mm in diameter.  That would make a pendant about 9mm. .... on a DBTY.   NICE!

I saw something somewhat similar on the web awhile back.  It was a ring, half white and half yellow.  I don't recall there being anything in between the diamond halves, but there was a bezel surrounding them.  They fit together seamlessly; you had to look twice to believe what you were seeing.  It was totally gorgeous and unique.  I think your idea ROCKS, Sparkly!

That's really too bad D!!!  I hope you can salvage at least part of the stone!

I too have see a mock up of a ring with a yellow and white half moon bezel set with a diamond halo---I liked the look of it Smiley

I had considered mounting the two diamond half moons flush, but didn't know if the light reflecting from the brown would make the colorless diamond look odd or decrease the contrast between the two halves.  Hence, the strip down the middle.

I agree, the flush mounted style would definitely make one look twice.   tard

What a cool ring!!
I could see us using the part of the stone that's left.
007 did mention that he was thinking 1/2 moon for the part that's left.

AS far as "the occurrence"
It's valuable to the conversation.
For one thing, it's shows that the possibility does exist.
These guys are all very good- I believe there was an imperfection involved in the explosion......
If we are going to offer pieces of rough- and the cutting services, we'll need to have a contingency plan for this type of possibility.

Yes, this was quite a bummer- the piece is still sitting on the desk here. It's got such a nice color.....
We'd have finished the stone, but 007's been out a lot lately....

In terms of cutting rough, I'm not discouraged enough not to try again!

I hope to see some new pieces of rough soon.....

HI everyone!
I'm reviving this thread as we've found success!

We just got a brand new old mine diamond- from a cutter who specializes in making new "old" stones.
This means that you'll start to see more and more of them on the site!

I'll have some photos up later today.....

Side shot- here you can see the open culet, and high crown....

The color is deceptive.
i feel it's an M(?)...however sometimes it looks colorless, and other times the tint is readily apparent...

Just gorgeous!  I love the cut.  Are we having the cutter do colored stones as well?   Evil
