I admit I LOVE these diamonds.  This one is no exception.  I need some in my future, I really do.  They really put every other single Old Mine Cuts to shame that I have ever seen.

Thanks guys- these are not the branded DBL OMB ( Old Mine Brilliant)
They do share a lot of the attributes in terms of modern cutting techniques applied to the Old Mine Brilliant design

We will be having some smaller ones coming in soon.
We did get this cool stone- less costly for a one plus carat

Well boy is my face red... I thought this was just the colorless version of the "double decker" but at the time I could only see the first photo (internet connection was crappy and didn't load anything but the finger shot) and now I see more, but I still really like it.

It looks like another winner of a style for me though.  I really like the first one a lot!  The 2nd one is nice but I prefer the 1st for some reason based on the photos.

it's a totally understandable mistake Squig!

This cut- Old Mine Brilliant- cut for modern calibrations and symmetry-  is it's own category.
Within it are different varieties.
The 1.50 is definitely cut to minimize perception of body color.
The lightbox shots highlight the color- but I'll bet in natural lighting the stone will look pretty white.

The DBL stones are cut to maximize color

Is this the same guy who cuts the DBL stones or just similar style?

After looking at the DBL 3 stone ring I noticed I loved both the colored center and the colorless sides.  From what I remember you saying in the listing the sides are cut for white light optimization right?  Honestly both styles of those appeal to me greatly.  My eye would have no idea that they are cut differently.  This style in general really tugs at my heart strings, that's for sure.

I'd love some slightly smaller stones to make earrings some day Grin

That first one is just beautiful. I agree with Squigs - smaller versions for earrings would be wonderful!

I absolutely love that first stone. I would love it as one of a pair of earrings, for sure! (At exactly the size it is, and in those amazing uber halo settings please).

For a frame of reference, I got what looks to be an authentic older cut Old Mine Brilliant.

After having gotten used to looking at our DBL branded Old Mine Stones, I was struck at how asymmetrical the old stone looks

mind you- I like the older stone as well- but clearly , there's a difference.

That one is a lovely OMB there.  I haven't seen one quite so lovely in a long time.  I am a huge fan of the older cuts and I admit these new ones hit every good thing IMO.  Similar feel but better cut.  They really do a fantastic job of keeping the old feel with better techniques.

The biggest difference that strikes me is the great symmetry combined with a good sized culet.  I love me a nice culet (sounds crazy I know) but sometimes, like in the stone above, they just become "too big".  Otherwise I would be all over that diamond as well.

There is a difference, but they really did a good job of keeping the feel of the old.  I've seen some "new old cuts" that are really a joke of a copy of the old.  Kind of like the "new Beetle" felt nothing like the VW of old.

This is very high on my list of "needs" Grin

Maybe next year I can save up for a pair of baby ones if they exist.

For this second Old Mine Brilliant- also a very high color....
I was in the "uber" factory today and spied a simple solitaire. It belonged to ...what was that name, I can't remember. But it was notable.
I fell in love instantly.
I think we'll have our own version very soon...
This stone is going to be the first one.

An interesting aspect to these stones is that even colorless stones seem to show a rainbow of colors.
Not that they look tinted- but different from other colorless stones.

They are glorious!

I love the colours in these stones - you seem to see a rainbow of pastel colours in them. So, so beautiful. Yoram brings them to life.

These are definitely next on my list of things to buy!!!!  I really love the rainbow of colors they throw off.  That's something I've noticed a lot of really nice older cuts do and probably why I love these so...  I keep saying I want these for earrings, but now I wonder if I need a ring so I can see the beauty more often LOL

I can't wait to see the solitaire though.  Anything that comes out of the uber factory has got to be beautiful!
