Hi everyone.
When we buy the diamonds, there is a selection process.
Today a cutter we love came by with about 100 diamonds for me to look at.
I just picked out 7 stones- some we will keep, and others will go back.

There's 2 four carat diamonds:
a 4.04 Fancy Light Yellow Radiant, with GIA Report ( color origin, it's an SI2)
a 4.21 Brownish Yellow ( No GIA yet) Radiant- this one is clean- probably VS1
Plus some smaller ones
a 2.15 lovely modified princess cut in Faint - Light Yellow
a 1.42 fancy Grayish Greenish Yellow ( GIA) Radiant Cut
a 2.01 Fancy Brownish Yellow (GIA) Radiant
a gorgeous 2.12 Fancy Dark Brown Emerald Cut ( I think it has GIA)

and last but not least, a sweet l'il .70 Radiant.
I believe the GIA report call it: Light Green. It's also identified as a Chameleon.

Photos and more info tomorrow......

That halo ring looks pretty darn SUBSTANTIAL, too. I love the antique like faceting. Totally modern retro.

Hi All- I've got the photos!

It will take alittle while to sort thru them.
Let's start with one stone we will surely reject.
The 2.01 Fancy Brownish Yellow Radiant

The stone looks ok to the eye- but upon closer examination ( such as the photos we publish) a huge symmetry problem shows up.
Can you guys see how the left side of the diamond has a large...arrow(?) looking facet patter pointing towards the culet- while the right side has the facet properly broken up into smaller subdivisions.

SO- I like half the stone...

Or- it's not all fast...it's Half fast

Ohhhhh, interesting.  Now, you see, I would think that it might just be the PHOTO that makes the stone look like that. I'd never give myself credit for actually seeing the poor symmetry.  But, when I look at the photo for awhile, it starts to drive me nuts because I keep thinking the stone is at an angle and THAT'S why the two sides look different.  hypnodisk

Aghhhh! This is going to drive me nuts, we're in the middle of wicked come-and-go thunderstorms (complete with hail) and my satellite connection (as well as the power) is on the fritz... I'm afraid that I'm going to miss all this cool stuff!!!!!

faintthud THAT certainly got my attention!  Talk about an entrance... as the photo came up, there was A HUGE roar of thunder, it even shook the house.  It was as if the Gods were offering some sort of extraordinary introduction to the diamond! Hehe, David, you couldn't have timed it better.

I thought about guessing vivid orangey brown... but, I chickened out.  Sillly me, at least I would have been closer!

Gosh, "fancy dark" is as dark as a grade can be, correct? And, is "orange brown" different from "orangey brown?"  It sounds like "orange brown" is about 50 percent orange hue and 50 percent brown hue; as opposed to "orangey brown," which would be a smaller percentage of orange hue in the predominatly brown stone... right?  Am I driving you all nuts? *HECK* There's probably no distinction al all... just a typo.  1087

Yeah, I see that.  I also see something that looks like a feather in there (of course I'm not the expert that you are)!

Good eye Mikla!

The diamond is relatively clean- I believe it's a VS.
What you're seeing is a "Natural" on the girdle.
Sometimes the cutter needs to leave a little of the original skin of from the rough diamond.
There can be a lot of reasons for this.
In this case there's a small rough area that reflects into the center fo the diamond.
Mind you, it's alovely diamond in person- I selected it based on visuals- it was only once I examined it closely that I discovered th Symmetry and Rough Natural Aspects.
It's still nice.....
