side squared, I wouldn't have it this heavy, but it was not working right in the drawings.

Man, do I have to do everything around here?

« Reply #35 on: April 29, 2008, 08:06:27 PM »

Thanks DL--keep them coming!! I really like your designs -- especially the baguette ones. I wonder how one stone would look inset in a groove that goes around the entire ring?

As for my finger size--I really don't know. I have thin fingers and I think (not sure) that I look best with a wide band. Here's a handshot of my platinum band.

Man Bands!  I love them.  I like them for WO-mans as well.  I like thick chunky rings on women too.  (MFP puffs up..."Who YOU calling chunky, Chunky?" )

Hey, that is a great idea!  Honey look what I bought you!...What?...You don't want to wear diamonds?...Aw shucks, I guess I will have to keep it then... Evil

That's really nice. I'd happily wear that as a rhr (after looking suitably sad that DH wasn't going to wear it of course, that way me wearing it would be a selfless gesture, rather than just me buying more stuff for myself, right?) Grin

Hey Everyone...

I was thinking that I'd really like this as a men's wedding band with a yellow baguette in yellow gold, 8mm width instead of the thinner band shown. What do you think?

Nice. And, trés modern. But, DJM, we're back to the problem of keeping the brushed metal finish looking "fresh." Once it is scuffed or dinged, it is done. BTW, what material is on either side of the stone?

I would have to agree that your band is very nice looking. My husband's is very plain.

Hey DJM -

I really like the style.  Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but can they coat or plate the ring with something to deter scratches and dings?

I was in my local jeweler's (just to get a watch battery, I swear) and they had a display of tungsten rings.  I gather that they're pretty tough?  They only had them for men, though.   I was a little disappointed, because I thought a really narrow one would make a great "beater" ring for the gym, dog training, that sort of thing, and I could start being nicer to the pretty platinum band I bought from DJ.

Does anyone know anything about these?

Robin-one of my hubby's rings is tungsten carbide and he loves it, great for daily wear, but heavy.  He prefers the weight of his titanium ring, but it does scratch.

I don't have any experience with tungsten, but my DH has a titanium ring that I got him years before we were married, but he wears it as his wedding ring.  I actually ask that he take it off while at the gym because if anything were to happen to his hand, it's pretty much impossible to cut off.  Although it's unlikely, I don't want him losing a finger over a ring.

Annie-That was one of our concerns as well with the titanium, not worth losing a finger over !!!  He really loves the light weight of it though, he lost one last year in the lake and he decided to get another because the weight of the tungsten bothered him a little bit.
