Hi Everybody,
this one had me at hello.  When you're looking for diamonds, size is around 1.00 to 1.10 seem to be much more common than sizes between 1.25 and 1.45.
So, when I noticed the size marked on the parcel paper, 1.36 carats, I immediately wanted to see the stone

As soon as I did, it had me.
The large corners give it an awesome shape.
The 62.9% depth does two amazing things here:
1) the Diamond looks like a carat and a half stone
2) this depth also accentuates the steps, visually.

As you can see- the polish and symmetry are very good on the GIA report.  Of course, you can see how good the symmetry is looking at this emerald cut diamond in these ultra close-up photos

This Diamond has a totally benign black carbon spot.

Absolutely!
WhenI heard the price I had to take a look.
I loved the shape immediately, and again, it's a great size.

This one did not have a GIA report.  I loved the shape.  Immediately, and I took it for L color (mainly because it was priced so well)

Once I started looking at the stone, and compared it to a K color, I realized it was definitely whiter.

I love both of these stones.  I am partial to pears and that one is a beauty.

Lovely stones - my two favourite shapes! I love the pear and I can see it set in a halo similar to the pink daisy ring.

Very nice!

I am wondering if a pink halo wouldn't make the pear look less white . . .  Huh?

Would putting it in a platinum halo with white diamonds bring out more of the whiteness of the stone?

I'm not very good at explaining design stuff LOL. IN my own head, when I typed that, I saw a white metal / white diamond version of the pink daisy ring, right enough. I just sort of failed to communicate that vision! Grin You're absolutely right I think  - white all the way.
It was the style and shape of the mounting I was thinking of.

I do love that EC. I keep coming back to look at it.

Yep I`d love to see a white metal / white diamond version of the daisy ring too  4
On second thoughts maybe I wouldn`t because it would only make me want it SO badly and the money tree is bare for a while.

Love them both!!  If I had the cash laying around I would set the pear in a necklace like the one with the yellow pear I used to have.  Really miss and need another someday soon.  Not sure how I would set the EC, but it is gorgeous!

Funny you mention it - my money tree isn't thriving either at the moment. Now why is that?

GL, your pear necklace was lovely. Another like that is certainly a good idea!

Dear GL -

Do you have a pic of the pear necklace you used to have?  Did you trade it in, or is this a touchy subject?

I saw a fabulous EC design in a magazine a couple of years ago and every time I see a really yummy EC I wish I could afford to commission it.

It was a very simple EC pendant, (albeit of about 9 carats)  but the chain was made of 1ct ECs. Dozens and dozens of them. Like a riviera sort of idea. Only it was 20 inches in length and very flexible - it seemed to move almost like a string of beads.

I wonder if a scaled down version is possible? Like, coming in at under $1m.

Happy to lend a hand, T!

Actually, I think it was longer than 20 inches, because it didn't have a clasp. It must have been long enough to go over your head.

I'd really love one like that. It would go so nicely with my studs and I always think ECs are understated enough to pull it off.

Anything else I can help with? Grin

I saw a stunning necklace in SF. It was a DBTY but with a large white RB every inch , all the way around and it could be worn alone or it had 3 larger diamonds ( briolettes ) which attached to it at the front by little crab catches and the briolettes dangled down from the necklace.
Really hard to describe but the effect was stunning, the whole thing was platinum and there wasn`t a price tag on it so I`m presuming if you had to ask how much it was, then you couldn`t afford it !

Mmm, I do like briolettes. So pretty and a little bit different. I think there were some in David's inventory but I guess they were snapped up a long time ago.

Mrs. M, you are encouraged to help anytime! As you can see, I STILL can't make a decision. And, David keeps throwing more stuff at us...

Ha, Mikla! No, I checked under the mattress, AND inside all of my pockets. *sigh*

Well, for my next scheme, you might need to expand your search down the back of the sofa cushions...

That lovely fat pear, in a halo, set as an enhancer for a nice 18 or 20 inch riviera of little pear cuts.

You'd have to love that!
