Knowing the rarity factor of the round yellow I would set it into the halo because I want my jewelry to last forever.  However, if you are more along the lines of Elizabeth Taylor and you don't care if you beat the tar out of your special diamonds, then I would opt for the second more modern mounting.

If I was shopping (without the benefit of David's influence), I would select the second mounting.

It seems that halos came onto the scene with the vintage fashioned clothes, and that's the association I have with halos, even when I was purchasing Tweety Bird.
But now that I have her (30 hours since delivery! yahoo), she wildly sparkles like a modern setting.  I'll have to see if I still regard her as 'modern' when the red nail polish is removed, and I'm back to my natural nail.

I'm not a big halo fan, but in this case

Halo it must be. Just not too big.

Interesting thought!

Would you like to see two yellow rounds, or one colorless, one yellow?

BTW- we just got in a few pairs of Matching Natural Yellow Pear shapes.
One pair is 1.30ct tw, intense yellow, the other pair ( which we will probably return to the cutter) is over 2.00cts, light yellow.

actually i was thinking of the baguettes doing the bypass with a large round yellow dead center. so there would be a space in between the bypasses.  N1Please2HL1

I'm so bad, I'm already thinking about the perfect set of earrings that could be made with four yellow pears.

How about a yellow version of this incredibly elegant style, if DL doesn't snap a yellow pair up right away?

Or perhaps it might be made similar to the DBTY style, for a longer dangly pair of smashing earrings.

Oh to dream!
