Hey everyone!

Sometimes, we just have different pieces of merchandise that we obtain in the course of business.
This is just such an item

Should we put these on the Diamonds by Lauren site?
They're quite heavy, weighing in at 24.2 grams for the pair.....

my opinion is "not on DBL" but eBay for sure - I have sold at least a dozen yurman pieces there. DBL is for DBL pieces ...  Wink   My2cents

Hi, Yes, I agree with Elizabeth. Keep DBL for DBL pieces.

... on the other hand, it's a shame not to leverage DBL's good eBay feedback. How about a specific section - possibly on eBay only - but still using DBL's "trading umbrella", and making it clear it's a trade in piece?

They just don't look like DBL to me....which of course, is true.  My feeling is with the others - ebay could be a goer.

It may be worth opening another section of the DBL site for 'estate pieces' or something to that effect.  I know of at least one major designer who does exactly that.

I'd second that, DJ! I love estate and antique pieces but I would prefer to get them from someone I trust. An estate 'arm' of DBL would be good for me! I know there are some sites that specialise in this, but I still think there's room in the market (and DBL customer service attached to estate pieces would not go amiss, from my experience of buying estate pieces elsewhere).

I wonder, is this market more difficult / more subjective? One person's gorgeous estate or vintage piece is another's fugly!  Grin

Dear David -

If it were a piece of diamond jewelry that met your standards, I could see listing it on the DBL site since you are a diamond and diamond ring seller.  To me, it would not make a difference if you bought the diamond from a cutter or got it from a private party.  You always disclose everything anyway.   Grin

But if the piece is so obviously something that DBL would not normally stock, I say just list it on eBAY.  I think the Diamonds by Lauren site should be exclusively for diamonds and diamond jewelry, although you might consider having a link to your eBAY auctions on your web page.   Huh?

I like the idea of having a special section on the site, with an explanation just like David wrote on his first post here.   The fact that David is willing to stock a certain "estate" piece says something about the piece's overall quality. And, that being said, I bet that a listed item wouldn't last long. Also, I'll guess that there never would be a "ton" of stuff posted... just a few special pieces. I think that it would be an interesting section... I know that I'd check it out.

Guys- thank you ALL so much for taking some time to consider this!!!

If we do go ahead and start to accept more consignment things, then a spearate section would certainly be in order.

Meantime, we'll limit these to the eBay store...
Mikla- there's a link to the eBay store right on the bottom of the home page, as well as every merchandise page of DBL....

Anyone have an idea what we should list these for?

This particular pair of earrings aren`t my cup of tea but if you were to have a separate section for estate or really good quality vintage pieces then maybe it would utilise all aspects of the market.
Folks looking for diamonds might see a vintage piece and people looking for vintage might see a diamond piece. All extra strings to your bow as long as they`re kept separately. Secondhand jewellery, no matter how good, is always a bit of an unknown quantity to some people and with your good reputation people will know they can trust you and that they`ll buy items for a fair price.
You`ve nothing to lose by giving it a whirl.

Well, Yurman will do well on or off DBL site. But you could put it under your name on ebay.
