Exciting visit from Roger.
We were looking at stones when the earth shook.
That's some garnet Rog....

Seriously, I'll always remember that I was looking at stones with Roger when I felt the earthquake yesterday.

Peridot- in particular, has to be striking to attract me...

These second to last two stones are fabulous in color, really fantastic.  I would love to see this type of thing in larger sizes.  Roger has really come through for you this time.  The 1.64ct sapphire glows and the cut and color of the second 1.68ct pink spinel is so, so beautiful.  Speechless.

The way this whole thing came about was that Roger called me one day- he was drawn to the website
I was drawn to the idea of selling his stones- at competitive prices.
In a sense, Roger and DBL are partners in this effort.
Roger puts together collections of stones that we'll sell at special prices.
From there, I select the stones I think will fit on the site, and photograph well.
I happen to respect and like Roger tremendously.

See, I know he's reading this, and I probably saved 10%.. Cool

I don't know if right/wrong is the question.  From a business perspective, I think what would sell best would be the direction.  It might mean not setting the stones, or using cast and leaving the custom or halos for customers that make the request.

I LOVE gemstones, maybe even more than I like diamonds. But then, I think nothing of doing something like putting a blue topaz with diamonds. I know its a cheap stone to put with expensive ones but such pretty colors!

I've wanted a sapphire, a spessartite, and a rhodolite for some time and now I want an emerald cut chrome tourmaline too.

Why would it be wrong? Then you have a $3500 ring with a large, lively and colourful stone and plenty of lovely diamonds around it. Makes a good alternative to a $35000 piece with a $32500 large centre diamond... even if the diamond may be nicer (and - shock, horror - it isn't always).

David - can you get a group photo of this lot, please? I love the sheer variety of shapes, cutting styles, colours and whatever else, and the light box should help getting some good lighting over a relatively large area.
