Oh, these match too nicely (based on the photos, anyway) to split them up.  All nice and square, just the way I like my stones.  Unless of course GL wants 3, then that leaves 2 for me!   Evil

Sorry Mikla!  It was a typo.  I meant for these 5 together.

If we set them in 18kt yellow gold with a platinum shank the ring would be $6499

Oops, sorry!  A five stone ring with these would be fabulous.  They match so well.  Go for it, GL!  (Is that too much enabling?) Lips Sealed

GRRRRRRRR!  i keep trying to post  and it is not working!  One more shot::

I think these 5 belong together!  I would go with all yellow gold so the eye doesn't see the place where the diamonds end right away.  I also would go with heart prongs.  I just love the way they blend into and subtly emphasize the corners on my asscher band.

This'll be a stunner!

Do the heart prongs make the stones appear more yellow?  Are they still open on the bottom for cleaning?

When I saw the Fab Five in person, the colors seemed even more evenly matched than they appear in the ultra-closeup photos.  Also, at least in the office light (and still in the box) their color appeared most like light lemon candy. The photos here don't QUITE show what I thought that I saw in terms of color. Very sweet and feminine.

I agree with David, I'd like to see a shared prong used so you see as much of the stones as possible. If you went with all five as a band, the band would be quite impressive in terms of size.  Strangely, I might like to see them set a little higher than "normal" for a band. To me, this should be a very elegant piece...

After looking at many gems over time, it is fascinating to see how some really stand out, and others are less memorable. To me, this group has real "personality."

Last eve I saw that someone had beaten me to these, they are SOLD now, but I want to mention them anyway.

For awhile, I've been interested in purchasing pink gold dangly earrings R2458 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail . But, I wasn't sure about their size... I worried that they might be a bit "dinky," too "sweet" for someone my age, and perhaps, not sparkly enough.

When I saw the earrings at David's, not only was I pleasantly surprised by their size, I absolutely LOVED their look and feel... MUCH more than I had expected.  They kind of blew me away. The diamonds were well matched and sparkly, the metal work looked lovely, the rose gold is rich and beautiful, and they felt good in my hands. I asked David if he could make more, he answered that he could, and I put the pair down and said, "Good.  Beause I WILL have a pair.  I love these."

I still do. And, I still plan to have a pair made for myself.

Definitely, if you like the photo, I do think that you will adore these in person.  They are made beautifully and have a wonderful softness and expressiveness about them that most modern, "machine-made" jewelry just doesn't seem to have. I know that this sounds corny, but, they look like someone actually cared about them when they were made.

Like David says, "If you love the photos, you'll faint when you see it in person." And he's right. There are many things that I want but when I see them in person, I'm blown away.

My vote on the fab five is one ring of yellows. It's one of my favorite bands. I like the v-tip but I think the shared prong is more popular. I'd take it with either setting. This style band is one of my very favorites.

Thank you guys!

Actually we make two kinds of "Shared Prong" settings.
First is the "ball type prong"

Second is the heart shaped prong

This one should have followed me as well.

Either way, this band would be stunning!  But my preference would be 18kt all gold shared ball prongs.  I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece.  I just love these 5 stone Asscher and Princess cut bands!

I'll bet this one will be  th_AWA123112

Yup!  It is GORGEOUS!

I will say I was a little worried the heart prongs would look a little cheesy when I ordered my asscher band, but oh man!  They are stunning in person!!  The heart shape is actual very subtle. I have to look closely at the ring to notice that they are hearts, but they blend into the corners perfectly to show off the shape of the stones.  It is an awesome look!!

GL, the fab five on a gold band with heart shaped prongs would be beautiful!

WM, you WON'T be disappointed with the Fab Five!  Evil

GL, you're band is really attractive.  Nice pick! I'm having lots of trouble with my satellite connection (hurricanes must be getting in the way - I had NO service most of yesterday and it looks like I'll be down again today) so, your second pic won't load for me, but, it seems that the v-prongs (heart) are not hammered flat like the 5-stone yellow ring posted above.  Is that correct?  I like the look of yours... kind of a compromise between the ball and the hammered flat styles. Very pretty, elegant ring.

Ok, since browns are so HOT these days (and I KIND OF like them myself  Roll Eyes ), I thought I'd mention two brown rings that I saw while at David's office. To me, one looked EXACTLY like the site photos, the other was a little different in person.

First, the one that was a dead ringer for itself, the 2.51 FYB cushion three-stone R2635 (uh-oh, it is taking REALLY long for stuff to load... if I disappear suddenly, you'll know that I'm gone due to technical difficulties  Roll Eyes ) ...Anyway, here, finally, is the link: http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail

The ring appeared in front of me, and the first thing that I noticed, and I could not help but notice it, was the color.  This center stone looks like some kind of thick, RICH, orangy-brown syrup. Very dense. And, it is almost like you can see texture - different flecks and facets of color all blended together - inside the stone. Moreover, this is a solid, substantial ring and center stone. I did not inspect it closely (there wasn't time... gems were coming at me fast and furiously), but the fact that it is an I1 made no impression on me whatsoever. And, I am ultra-persnickety about that stuff. Unless someone wants to hold your hand up to his/her face and "read" the stone (or you palm?) I don't think the clarity of this beauty is an issue at all.  What I noticed most was the RICH color of the center stone, the lovely finish and shape of the stone, and the quality look and feel of the piece.  Overall, this is an expensive looking ring and would definitely make a statement on the hand. I can't imagine wearing this one and NOT having people ask about it.  In my fabulously detailed notes (NOT!), I gave it four stars and I wrote "cool ring, nice size."

On a different front, I've been watching loose brown orangy RB R2399 - putting it on and taking it off my wish list - since it first arrived. Ultimately, I decided to wait on this stone because I already had my Glarkler and Brown Rounds ring. Then, David snagged loose stone R2399 and made it part of a three-stone ring. Here's the link: http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail .

When David offered the stone loose, the photos reminded be of the coppery browns on my Glarkler ring.  But, when the photos of the finished ring showed up, the center stone looked much deeper and more brown, less coppery for sure, than I had imagined earlier. To be honest, for me, it almost seemed too dark.  I missed the sparkle and the play of light within the stone.

Good news (for me, anyway), in person, the center stone is very much like the first hand shot in the web description, the one with all the sparkle showing. I'm sure there are lighting conditions that make the stone look as dark as it has photographed, but, most usually, it will look more like that first hand shot, closer to the loose stone photos, as opposed to most of the ring shots where the center appears much darker... almost coffee-like. Finally, I wore both this ring and my Glarkler at the same time to compare.  The Glarkler RB brown sides were only a hair lighter and more coppery, the color difference was almost unnoticeable. If you like browns, this is a very pretty, well-sized, set low to the finger ring, and quite reasonably priced... especially when you take into account that the general public doesn't see this type of diamond color often.  It is a comfortable and well-made piece to hold and wear.

Sorry to be so long-winded...

Gosh, I STILL have more pieces to write about.

For some reason, when I went into David's office, I copped an attitude... like I was actually going to walk out the door with a special piece, even when there was no money in my pocket and no credit in my account ( icon_porc s CAN fly, right?).  So at one point, I seriously compared two rings, each featuring about a 2ct center stone. I wanted something a little different, yet, still classic in presentation. Like I was going to actually take one home...  Roll Eyes

First up was the 2.02ct EC with rubies R1324 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail . Right off the bat, I noticed the great setting work, and again, the great feel in my hand. This is a solid, weighty, well-balanced piece.  But, best of all, I'd have to say that this is one of the most comfortable rings that I've EVER had on my finger.

The platinum band is quite wide - wider than most bands - with a gently rounded, extremely smooth finish.  And, the stones are set very low to your finger.  So, everything is quite close to your hand. if you like a balanced, snuggie feel with some heft on your hand (that feels like a PART of your hand) then, you will absolutely LOVE this ring.  I didn't want to take it off. And, it would be perfect for someone with an active lifestyle who wants a larger center stone and wants to wear the ring daily. But, if you like a more traditional, high-set look and feel, or something you'd describe as "feminine" or "delicate," you may want to pass.

The rubies are a lovely dark color, and not too purplish.  I would not call them "bright," but rather, "velvety" (like the best sapphires), "full bodied," or "rich."  (If you like light or purpley rubies, these will not be your cup of tea).

Finally, to me, the center EC diamond looks very much like the DBL photos. Any inclusions or clarity issues are not noticeable to the naked eye. By the very nature of it's cut, this 2ct diamond is not a sparkler type. She is more of a moody, "pull you in" kind of stone.

If you are looking for an unusual, quality built, understated-but-in-your-face-at-the-same-time "power ring," this could be your gal. This ring has a lot of class. Not to mention, it's own, really beautiful style.

Next up was the really cool 2.04ct FLY radiant and ruby sides R2082 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail . I really wanted to see this ring before I went into the office.  I figured it was a "hate-it" or "love-it" type ring... In my notes, I wrote, "Love it. Comfy, set low. Center could be bigger."  Of course ANY center could be bigger - I just liked this one so much that I wanted MORE!  If  icon_porc s actually could fly, I could have easliy walked out the door with this one.

This is another weighty band, but, it is more of a traditional style, (more typical DBL). It feels a little lighter than the EC ring, and features more arc and height to the curve of the band. Like the EC ring, the stones in this ring are set quite low.  I like that, it makes the ring very wearable for me, and I like the way it feels.  But, some people may prefer a more elevated setting.

Again, like the other ring, the ruby sides were not too purple or bright, but, dense and intense blood red.

My very favorite yellows are from about WX to Fancy Light.  In my limited experience, these are the yellows that often change their look in various lighting, and can appear more "golden" than "canary" (gold flatters me, most yellow does not, so, it is an interesting challenge finding the right "kind" of yellow diamond). Colorwise, this diamond was right in there for me. Loved it. The contrast between the yellow-golden center and the rich ruby sides was both unusual and extremely pleasing.  Very regal. But, I understand how this unusual combination is not for everyone.

I plan to someday have a ring like this... as soon as  icon_porc s learn to spread their wings! I wish that I had asked to see the yellow diamond and sapphire rings, to compare, but, that will have to be another day...  Evil
