OK, so awhile back there was a lot of excitment about the "flower" ring in rose gold, R910 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail. In person, to me, this ring looks EXACTLY like it is represented in the photos on the site, especially in terms of how the center stone looks and the color of the rose gold.  This well-made ring is quite substantial, covers a good amount of finger "real estate" and it feels good in your hand.

However, unquestionably, the flower that stole my heart when I saw it - not that it hadn't already - is R1485 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail with the extraordinary FIYO oval center. The yellow-orange center is not as "hot orange" as I had pictured it, but, again, is actually very much like the color photographed on the DBL website (I guess I had let my imagination run a bit on this one!).  Even though for ME the center stone is a teeny weeny on the small/narrow side, it is very wearable for someone my size and age, and simply put, I ADORE this ring.  If I David could find a million stones this color, I'd try to own them all. This is a very classy, elegant and unusual ring. Just divine. If I had the cash, it would not be there today.

She also kinda liked this one in person.

Now this one is incredible! The step cuts are amazing!

I fell in love with that one too(orange flower ring) on my visit T! The color is outstanding! In fact I think I just might start saving for that one! It is one of the few pieces that I always think about! I'm glad you got to meet the new Mrs. she was sick when I went up for my visit!

And, to add insult to injury, David, you mention The Great Pumpkin diamond in the SAME post as the stunning 3.24 Fancy Brown Yellow here!  violent1

***

OK, so, I wasn't going to mention The Great Pumpkin.  I was going to be controlled.  I was going to wait... and see... what would happen to it... if... I... just sat... back...

BUT, I've got to come clean:

I LOVE THE GREAT PUMPKIN DIAMOND.

Put simply, it blew me away when I saw it in person.  I didn't even care that it was an I1... heck it could be an I99... IT IS TO DIE FOR!

There I said it.  Now, someone else with the bucks may purchase it and put me out of my misery.  1224

I'm sorry, I just realized that we didn't talk about The Great Pumpkin on this thread, it was over on the "NEW BROWN Rocks!..." thread.  And, I don't think that the diamond is officially listed on DBL yet.  So here it is (no GIA yet):

ITEM #: R2740
Round Brilliant Diamond, Loose

  WEIGHT: 4.06ct
  SHAPE: Round Brilliant
  COLOR: Pumpkin
  CLARITY: I1
  MEASUREMENTS: 10.06 - 10.04 x 6.30 mm
  TOTAL DEPTH: 62.6%
  FLUORESCENCE: NONE

Price: $21995

Oh, by the way, it is my opinion (and I have no idea whether anyone shares my opinion) but, I think that once set, with rose gold behind the RB and either a colorless halo or sides (I think my preference is baguettes), this diamond has a great chance of looking peachy colored.  Really, I NEVER look at I1 diamonds (I'm a snob) and I couldn't take my eyes off this one. It didn't look quite so brown in person... instead, it seemed to be more of a light golden peachy sparkler. It just glistened.

OK, back to this:  Bawling

Is David sending "The Great Pumpkin" to GIA?  If so, it will be interesting to see what they call it.

To me, it looks like the color of champagne.  I mean, the actual bottled kind, not the various colors of stones that I've seen called that color.  Then again, I don't drink champagne, just a heck of a lot of Chardonnay!   5160.gif

Seriously, I really like the color.  Should we get David to start a contest to see what GIA will call this baby?   Evil

David,

Back to the 3.24 Fancy Brown Yellow.

On the left side of the band between the head and the band there is a black round spot and a squarish piece of gold.  Can you get a better picture of that area or maybe explain what I am seeing?

Would one of your curved wedding bands, 0.25ct, look good with this ring?

I like this design; it makes the diamond look like it's floating.

Hi Sparkly,

I'm usually pretty good at spotting things in photos, but I just can't see what you mention - could you use photoshop or powerpoint or something and tinker with the picture David posted to show the area you mean, please?

BTW - has anyone noticed the polish on the setting? It's so mirror-like that you can see the camera, the face of the photographer and the hand holding the tweezers.

Actually, I think the "black spot" may be the reflection of the camera lens, and the "squarish piece of gold" is the reflection of a prong, which of course when flattened on a 2D curved surface becomes something squarish

OMC- that's what I noticed!
The round black spot is the camera! and square thing is the reflection of the basket of the head.
Good eye OMC!

Ok, I've been bad.  I haven't written about a TON of the diamonds and pieces that I saw during my DBL visit.  And, now, I've lost the scrap piece of paper on which I scribbled my notes.  Roll Eyes  I'll try to remember some of more of what I saw. (Oh, yeah, Trink, like it is HARD to remember...  Grin ).

When I first arrived, David placed several boxes with yellow diamonds on the desk in front of me.  One  box contained five, I think, matched, beautiful, soft-yellow princess cut diamonds (maybe 25-40 points each? More than a week later, with SO many diamonds in my head, it is hard for me to remember their size exactly. I remember thinking that five stones should logically equal a carat, but, these looked larger and I know princess cuts are often smaller face-up for their weight... sorry, I just didn't register these in terms of size ).  Anyway, I don't know whether David was just considering them, whether they were already sold, on-hand for a custom project, or whether he's got them in stock right now.  But, they were lovely and definitely worth asking about.  They would make a lovely band together, or pull two out and three out and make two bands with alternating yellow and colorless stones.  Very classy, beautiful diamonds with potential to make a stunning piece of jewelry. Unfortunately, before I could ask about them, something else popped up  Roll Eyes and I never returned to the yellows.

Speaking of matched stones, I did see the larger horsey head pair R2665 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail .  Actually, they looked larger than I had thought they'd be, and were more impressive all-around.  They were bright and white, and well matched.  Very cool, and certainly, unusual. Wonderful collection pieces, for sure.  If you like that sort of thing, I wouldn't pass on them.  You won't be disapponted, they are hard to miss, they look good, and they are and lots of fun.  I really enjoyed seeing them.

Another cool and unusual piece, and I hate to mention it because I want it to "wait" for me,  angel9 is the exquisite, 4.42ct, blue radiant "scissor cut" loose sapphire R2663.  I don't see it listed on DBL, but, it is in the database and David posted it in the Sapphire thread http://coloreddiamon.../sapphires-t1879/75/ .  This is NOT a classic sleepy or velvety blue Kashmire or Burmese color sapphire.  Instead, this stone is a beautiful, clean, crisp, bright blue.  And, in my opinion, it is more beautiful in person than in the photographs.  To compare, David put it next to another more richly-colored blue sapphire (with something a bit "off," as I recall... I can't remember if it was a little shallow or windowed, but it didn't matter, it was lovely).  Anyway, I still preferred the scissor cut. Maybe because it was a bit different.  dontknow Regardless, the cut is absolutely fabulous.  Put this classic and elegant stone between two colorless diamonds, maybe step-cut traps, and you have a KILLER ring (in platinum, please  Grin ).

Good memory T!

There is a box containing 5 diamonds- natural Fancy Light Yellow ( by my estimation) totaling about 1.75cts.
I'll make sure to get the paperwork and diamonds out this week to show you guys.

They're cool because they are radiant cuts- trinkette's memory was off on that pint.
I love the radiant cuts for a five stone band as they allow the common prong setting.

Now, I was thinking an all yellow band, whilst you are suggesting tow multi colored bands....hmmm...interrresting....

Oh phooey, I KNEW that I screwed-up somewhere.  Hey, what can I say, I was overwhelmed with BLING.

(At least I guessed the size correctly, even if I DID miss the CUT...  1224)

Actually, they were pretty enough that I could see all five of them set, alternating with six same-size colorless stones, as the top of a delicate, narrow, gold bracelet, either bangle or chain.

I have to agree with T on the flower ring!  I saw that when I was there a few weeks ago and was madly in love with it.  Unfortunately my wallet was empty otherwise she would have had a new home!!! xyxnervous

OK- so here are the five diamonds in the box

They are sweet little Radiant Cut Diamonds

Radiant Cut Diamond, Loose

CENTER STONES:
  TOTAL WEIGHT: 1.82cts
  QUANTITY: 5
  SHAPE: Radiant Cut
  COLOR: Y-Z, Natural Light Yellow
