Yes, GL, there is a movie and it's a bezel set stone in a square pink halo.  You will LOVE it!

No, I just looked to see if I could post one for you.  Is there any way to get a still shot from a movie?

I think it might be sold.  I'm guessing it was made with R2066.  I could be wrong though!

"An impossibly deep fancy Green Brown Yellow 3.47 round"-D

wow2 That color is intense.  Are there a lot of 1ct and smaller, deeply colored stones coming from the Zimi Mine?

Dear David -

How do you come across stones from this region?  Must you source them overseas or are there dealers in NYC who have them?  Just wondering, as I have not ever seen a diamond being advertised from the Zimi Mine.

David, thank you for the thread!  And, of course, thank you so VERY much for a wonderful afternoon.  I was totally and unexpectedly spoiled.  Worse still, I was no better than a big bump in the chair at the diamond desk... paralyzed with delirium.  hypnodisk love10 hypnodisk Literally, I had to be kicked out.

Pathetic.  Roll Eyes

David and Sandra were the consummate host and hostess to a fabulous sparkly party.  And, David was extremely generous with both his time and knowldge. I learned and confirmed a lot, both about the wonderful DBL stock, and about my own personal preferences.  It was an afternoon to remember, for sure.

david Best of all, David, I must tell you, after seeing ALL the beautiful sparklies - huge and small, unusual and classic, from pricey to more affordable - I left feeling even better about the ring that I already own, R2121, Glarkler and the Brown Rounds.  It is a beautiful, well made custom ring that, in my view, held up to the best of the best in terms of quality and style (even if I am biased).  Thank you for taking such care in the production of a not-over-the-top piece.  I feel priviledged to own this lovely ring.  Really. And, as easily could have been the case, I did not come away feeling like I'd gotten something last year that I now wish I could trade back.  Even after seeing many of the "top" DBL pieces. On the contrary, I love this piece even more and totally respect the care and attention to detail that was given to this ring... just as if it had been a web-page-one DBL piece.

Now, I can't wait to start building some more fabulous pieces! (But, don't get me wrong... I would LOVE to walk away with an "important" DBL piece!  Someday...)  Wink

As far as what I saw on Friday, I'll try to take some time over the next few days and write about some of what I experienced. There were a few surprises, but, most of all, the stones and jewelry pieces were remarkably like I'd imaginied them to be. And, most were better.  For example, I saw several Asscher and emerald cut loose stones - there wasn't a mediocre one in the bunch.  David seems to have a marvelous eye for these beauties.  I don't think you can go wrong here.

And, if there is any question (and, I'll admit it, I had my doubts) Asscher R2683 (http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail) is an absolute to-die-for stone.  No "ifs," "ands," or "buts" about it.  It is everything you could hope for in a colored diamond AND an Asscher diamond, and more.  First of all, the cut is simply spectacular, and you notice it immediately.  Crisp. Clean. Even.  Then, there is the silk or "water" of the stone.  This diamond looks absolutely like crystal-clear liquid all the time. Limpid. Gorgeous. And, of course, there's the color.*SIGH* Here's where I eat crow. Before I saw the diamond in person, I worried about the color and, I admit it, I called her Olive Oil.  Doesn't sound too good.  dontknow But, I know now, Olive Oil is gorgeous.  The stone is all the colors you see in the photos and the video, but, you see all the colors TOGETHER.  The green, the yellow, the brownish tones, the orange, the gold... The colors never stop revealing themselves.  And contrary to what I feared before seeing the stone, the "green" is not objectionable at all.  I thought it might be too "electric" or brassy.  But, like the other colors, it is subtle and it is beautiful.  Just another aspect of the matrix of stunning color. For me, this is an unforgettable diamond. In fact, later on Friday evening, I drank a glass of iced tea and it reminded me of this diamond.  And, when I stopped and studied the glass of tea, the it had the same beautiful, limpid quality and even the greenish hue was present.  Along with all the other beautiful colors...  I know that this special diamond will make someone very happy. I can't wait to see it as a ring, maybe with two colorless diamonds on either side.  I'm terrribly sorry my piggy bank is empty right now, for I surely would not have left this beauty behind.  heart2

A visit to DBL is always memorable. I would bet that yellow round would be gorgeous in a ring. You guys are seeing it with David standing on top of it--super magnitized.

Remember the booger diamond? Marc and I could not even see the inclusion that David magnified a zillion times. It looked grand in person and quite a buy.

In "person," the yellow round is every bit as vibrant as it is in the photos. It's a screamer, for sure.

On a different note, one interesting surprise was the 2.16 OP radiant R1956 http://rockdiamond.c...p;action=show_detail diamond.  David flashed it to me from the other side of the desk, and it looked fantastic. This is a diamond that you can't miss from afar. Plus, in the sunlight, the stone looks remarkably white, due to the strong fluorescence. Generally, I'm not a radiant lover, but this one got my attention.  I don't think that the photography on the site gives this stone it's due...

Mikla

Once diamonds are polished, it's virtually impossible to say with certainty where they were mined.

This stone is rumored to be from the Zimi mine- but we don;t know for sure.
It's almost mythical in that regard. i mentioned it only because the dealer who showed me that stone mentioned it to me- and it is an interesting fable..

There's no way to ...order stones from the Zimi mine- I do believe that particular mine is long closed.

Interesting! Do Zimi diamonds crp up from time to time, or are they rare?

Trinkette has a fantastic eye for diamonds and very good taste, I'd take her recommendations very seriously. I really do admire her own collection. Every piece I've seen, I've wanted!

Like I said, the radiant surprised me, in a good way. And before this one, I would have NEVER looked at a "white" radiant. I can't wait to see it in some new photos if David and Cori have time.

Another BIG surprise was the open-culet, shallow depth "wild" emerald cut with half-moon ring, R2736. I just wrote about it own it's own thread, post 36 - http://coloreddiamon...ut-half-moon-ring/0/. It is not for ME, but it is a very impressive, and quite lovely ring for SOMEONE.  I must admit, I'm glad that David decided to stock it because this piece has a LOT of personality, even though it does not feature a "by the books" type center stone. I'm curious to see where the ring will end up...

OK, the FIRST shot looks like the diamond that I saw. I'm sure that it also looks tinted like the other two photos, but, I did not see it. I don't know, this stone needs to be set, then we can all fight over it...

david Have I gotten myself into trouble yet?

Wow. That is some sparkle. Dramatic corners. That is a pretty radiant. You'll have to tell the fable on the You Tube video.

It's in stock? I think that was a good decision, it's going to be an iconic ring! Look how much we've talked about it already.
love the peachy tint of that radiant, too.
